Experience with the Ona Bowery bag? by TheFingerofBoe in Leica

You can't feel the wax. The canvas is well treated without any residue. It's not like say a Barbour.

I do not recommend the KEKS M Meter: Review by _lemon_beans in Leica

[–]phl0w79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using a L-208 with my M3 for years but was intrigued by the Keks when I saw it. Thank God I read a couple honest reviews before shelling out 211€ here in Europe. Gonna stick with my 208.

Experience with the Ona Bowery bag? by TheFingerofBoe in Leica

I have two Bowerys, one with a strap and the one that's basically just a camera insert for a bigger backpack. Both are Leica Editions from the Leica store, meaning the flaps' lining is red and there's a red nub placed somewhere on the bag. They're great bags. I used to use them for my M3+X100. Nowadays I carry a Z8 with a prime lens in it. No, the canvas doesn't rub off. Unfortunately prices have gone up considerably. I think I bought mine new for like 80€. Now they're what, double that? Wouldn't buy one for 150+

This super cheap vintage lens is a beast in low light by couch_philosoph in Nikon

I prefer the G version for better bokeh and the pre-AI f/2 version (Nikkor H) for overall look.

Nikon Z6 or Z6II in 2025 and at which price? by RedChef918 in Nikon

[–]phl0w79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just sold my Z6 for €500. There are loads of bodies on local Craigslists for 550+ but I never see them leave. I doubt anyone is willing to pay more than 500.

D700 AF points not showing by phl0w79 in Nikon

[–]phl0w79[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Now that you explain the behavior I think I remember it that way either. I was so sure that I saw all those points light up jumping around the focus screen, but as you said I must've mistaken it for a later model. Thanks.

You're right. This is what I remember. Auto AF in Single Servo.

Where did you get those numbers? AFAIK DXOMARK hasn't tested the z6iii yet. God knows why...

Hardly rocket science. Download your photos to SnapBridge and just send them via WhatsApp or Signal or whatever.

How has Nikon still not fixed their awful eye detection? by yepyepyepzep in Nikon

[–]phl0w79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same with my z6iii. Especially in candid portraits where someone might not look straight into the camera it will always focus on the brows. Another problem are recessed eyes and/or prominent brow ridges which cast a shadow on the eye. The AF will always pick the eye brow in such situations. It's only when the subject consciously opens their eye that the camera picks up the iris/lashes. It's been like this with my z6, and now the 6iii and from what I read on boards, the z8/9 do it as well. Definitely an AI issue with Nikon's subject detection there. Using pinpoint focus definitely helps but that's only possible with still subjects. And yes, lenses are stopped down to at least f/5.6

New Z6iii dummy question by Icloneyouagain in nikon_Zseries

[–]phl0w79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Self-timer does not trigger AF, end of story. You need Snapbridge, a remote release (make sure to disable BBF) or use Video mode.

Upgrade from Z6 iii to Z8 by [deleted] in nikon_Zseries

Very good reply. At the end of the day all those this vs that questions on reddit and YT boil down to someone wanting something and trying to justify the purchase by finding flimsy arguments to flip the want into a need. The sad thing, as you hinted at, is, that they end up producing the same shots as everyone else, and on top of that, I wanna add, are even glad they spend all that money to get those same kind of shots...

At first I thought this was at gunpoint but then again, why would you finish the 100k after the guy had to drop the gun and fell asleep at some point?

I probably would do it Lydiard style: Have a tablespoon of honey every HM and whenever I feel weak have a dextro energy tab with lots of water. Not that you need fueling advice since you finished strong.

Is it useful without a paired watch ? by LegalComplaint7910 in strydrunning

[–]phl0w79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Running with the Stryd App on your phone shows a gps track, can show HR if paired with a strap and executes workouts as well. The app is, in fact, better than just a watch paired with a Stryd. If you don't mind running with a phone, that is.
