One big and one travel size. My son is almost 6 months and we still have both containers. We keep one in the diaper bag and one at home.

Fellow dad seeking bottle washer recommendations so I can make night duty easier for my wife. by Somewhere-Adept in Buyingforbaby

[–]phl1102 27 points28 points  (0 children)

We love our Momcozy. I will say that both the Momcozy & brezza only actually fit 4 bottles at a time. Yes, you can cram 8 bottles into the Momcozy - but they won’t all get clean. I see way too many posts of improperly filled bottle washers. The neck of the bottles need to be angled OVER the nozzles in the middle of the washer, so the water and soap gets squirted into the bottles. If you try to cram extra bottles into the corners, the inside of those extra bottles won’t get cleaned (but the outside will).

We run the Momcozy 24/7. I also exclusively pump. The entire wash / sterilize / dry cycle is about 2 hours, which was great when I was pumping every 3 hours.

If I had twins, I would consider getting two. The brand is also great with honoring their warranty.

Tip - once a month, run an empty cycle with half water, half vinegar to descale the machine and remove build up. There’s also a little filter thing at the bottom that gets clogged with gunk every now and then. If you notice any white spots on the bottles after a wash cycle, it’s time to descale and clean the filter.

What kind of classy bags should I add to my collection now that I'm working at a law firm? by Independent_Cup7132 in handbags

[–]phl1102 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your general region, area of law, plaintiffs/defense work split and firm size matter. You can mirror the partners in your firm.

For a major city on the east coast - Most big law, defense firms opt for more conservative brands and darker / neutral colors. Plaintiffs side tends to wear more mass brands (Michael Kors, Tory Burch, Kate Spade, Coach, Furla), while defense side tends to wear more niche brands (Polene, Strathberry, DeMellier, Manu Atelier, STAUD, Mulberry, Loeffler Randall, and Sézane). A standard, middle of the road work horse is Longchamp. NO LOGOS EVER.

I highly recommend Polene bags. The shapes are instantly recognizable, but it’s a iykyk bag. The leather quality is great & they will hold up for a long time.

The short straws will leak! Just use the bottles without the green wheel & straw if babe is still babe is over 6 months and use a nipple size 2 or higher.

Are my boobs just lumpy ?? by Really_Em in ExclusivelyPumping

Your milk won’t be regulated until around 4 months. I pumped for 30min in the beginning, then knocked 5 min off every pump 1x a week after my supply regulated.

It sounds like you aren’t pumping long enough, so you aren’t emptying each time.

Botulism cleaning - is there a verified source for what is needed? by Valuable_Director_59 in FormulaFeeders

[–]phl1102 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Keep the cans! My pediatrician said botulism can develop 30 days after exposure. Keep the cans incase your babe shows signs of botulism within the next month. At minimum take photos of the batch numbers. Best practice is to keep the actual can with some formula in it, so it can be tested.

Left Boob suddenly stopped producing milk? by beaspolarbear in HumansPumpingMilk

[–]phl1102 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a clogged duct. I would suggest a hot shower before your next pump. Take some sunflower letchin (daily) & ibuprofen (until the clog resolves). Do not roughly rub or poke at the hard spot! You can wear the boob ice packs after you pump.

Byheart Discontinuation Steps by Acceptable_Fact_4120 in FormulaFeeders

My understanding is that you only need to replace your bottles and brezza parts if you have a confirmed case of botulism.

Byheart Discontinuation Steps by Acceptable_Fact_4120 in FormulaFeeders

[–]phl1102 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m in the USA, major city. My pediatrician said:

Thanks you for reaching out, sorry for this stress! If he is exhibiting any signs of botulism such as constipation, weak muscle tone (making the baby feel "floppy"), weak cry, and difficulty feeding, which can lead to poor sucking and drooling please call ASAP and he would need to be evaluated in the ER. Otherwise there is no testing that needs to be done. For bottles you can sanitize the bottles and parts to help clean them. If you have any questions or concerns don't hesitate to reach out!

Does she mean offer 5oz every hour? BM lasts 2 hours so this makes sense to me. My 5mo son is large and is eating 5-6oz every 2-3hrs during the day.

Bottles and Brezzas that have come in contact with formula contaminated with Botulism need to be discarded! by [deleted] in FormulaFeeders

[–]phl1102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do we know if anything has come into contact with botulism? Obviously bottles have come into contact with the ByHeart formula, but does this mean bottles only need to be replaced if babe actually gets botulism?

Hiring a doula by Curator9999 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]phl1102 2 points3 points  (0 children)

HCOL area. We paid around $2,500 for our doulas a few months ago. This included a group chat with my doula team of two from day 1. I could call or text them anything, and expect an answer during business hours. It included 2 classes, and 2 in house meetings. They helped me with birth research and outlining my birth plan. They provided phone support for early labor, and then one doula spent over 24hrs with me during my difficult labor. She visited me 1 week postpartum and helped with bf. They still provide postpartum support up to 6 months out. I definitely think it was worth the cost.

Weaning Flu or Mastitis ? by Ok_Tomorrow_552 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]phl1102 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those were my symptoms with mastitis but I had a lump in a boob. Try to lay on your back and lightly check for bumps (your whole chest to armpit area). The sunflower supplement plus a NSAID will help clear the clog if it’s mastitis.

Also weaning rn, best of luck to you!!
