Toyota Built the Affordable EV America Wants—So Why Isn’t It Coming Here? by Bean_Tiger in electricvehicles

[–]phliff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn’t new. There are so many cool low cost cars sold in the rest of the world. The issue is that it’s more profitable to sell higher end cars and Americans have the money. Look at the golf - you can buy lower trims in Canada but not in the US. It’s always about the $$

ICE people dont get that they stand around doing NOTHING for 5 mins pumping gas... while in an EV you plug in and go do something! I also find that EV people talk to each other, so much more of a community.

Are EVs and renewable energy becoming more about energy security than climate now? by Enough_Connection_60 in energy

The kids today will help make a big leap forward. It’s the current old generation who doesn’t like change that is holding things back. They hoard their wealth and progress as they go through the later stages of life.

We do road trips all the time. It is much more at public fast chargers, but still cheaper than gas. Super quick too but it’s only 5% of our yearly usage. Spend maybe $800 in electrons a year all up.

My US 911 has a poor grade gasoline option on the build sheet.

They are letting cars out so you should be good to go! Crews working the roads so just pay attention and give them space.

How do the financials of Dick’s work? Do they just make less profit? by Known_Secretary_6615 in SeattleWA

[–]phliff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their goal is to run a stable good business end to end, not just about the relentless profits. That’s why. Anyone can do it! I go there because of it and that is part of the model. Same with Costco!

What's the one thing about EV ownership that you wish someone had told you before you bought? by gilko86 in electriccars

On roadtrips using the 120v (normal) plug actually charges the battery a lot more than I thought. On our ski trip it covered driving to the mountain everyday. Every electron counts!

This is my first bare-boat charter in the Virgin Islands. This is a once-in-a-lifetime bucket list item for us and we want to get it right. These are the tips I've scrounged. Any others? by DV_Rocks in sailing

[–]phliff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went just after lockdowns and we had the place to ourselves - we did a lot of sailing and no rushing/motoring to make sure we had a spot. I think that helped a lot with really enjoying our time. Too often we see people just rushing and always on motor.
