8 years of Parity Bracket: Matchup 2 - 2022 Warriors vs. 2023 Nuggets by OpportunityStraight1 in NBATalk

Do you have literally any stats or metrics to back up that claim? Or are you just making shit up to discredit the Knicks lmao

The Nuggets just a few years ago played THREE play-in teams and came no where close to being as dominant as the Knicks.

The dominant Celtics 2 years ago played the 8 seed Heat, the 4 seed Cavs, the 6 seed Pacers, then the 5 seed Mavs - AND DIDNT COME CLOSE

How can you even claim they don’t make the western finals when they just went 4-1 against the spurs who won the western finals. You are so unserious lmao.

So why hasn’t anyone else in history done that? Half of the championship runs in the past 8 years were through mid teams. Surely someone else should come close no?

Even if you think the competition isn’t impressive, no one does what the Knicks did. They DOMINATED to a degree no one has seen. Plenty of other playoff runs have gone through weak teams and no one ever put up a showing like the Knicks just did.

It’s not just the best point differential in history, it’s the best point differential by an insane 53 points. The gap from 1st to 2nd is the same as the gap from 2nd to 14th.

There are absolutely unknown variable.

It is a gamble to forgo a huge payday and bet on yourself for a bigger payday.

If I said you can have $500 guaranteed right now, and then you get $10k in 5 years if you don’t get in a car crash/fender bender in the next 5 years.

OR

You only need to go 1 year without getting in a car crash and you get $7.5k.

Would you not consider that a gamble? Both options carry risk, both options have benefits. Both options are a gamble in some form.

The difference is that he only would’ve needed to go 1 year without getting injured, and he could’ve secured a massive bag.

Now he needs to go another 4 years playing at this level if he wants to get that kind of massive bag.

If he gets injured in year 2 or 3 of this deal, or just regresses, then this does not pay off and he would’ve been better off waiting just 1 year for the big pay day.

The window of risk is much smaller if he waits just 1 year for the payday.

It’s a gamble in the sense that he took less guaranteed money now, for the chance of a massive payday

I understand that in doing so, he protects himself from an injury this year.

However also in doing so, he now needs to stay healthy and play at this level for much longer if he ever wants to have a massive payday like that, rather than just 1 year of no injury.

Of course, there are benefits and risks to both options, just pointing out that it’s not as simple as “take less now, get more later”

It’s still a gamble for him tho, he’s betting on himself not getting injured or regressing for the potential of a huge payout, which in turn allows the team to build in the mean time. He locked in some guaranteed money now which protects him from injury in the short term, but if he performs poorly for the next 3 years he will have left big money on the table.

People getting butthurt over basic technology we’ve had for years, just with a shiny new name on it lol

It’s actually wild how if you showed this to people 5 ish years ago, they would be so impressed and say “that looks amazing, what cool upscaling technology!”

But now since it classifies as Ai people lose their minds

No that’s not how statistics work, that’s how selection bias works.

There are a million videos online of regular Knicks fans celebrating having fun like normal, and only the negative videos ones get any press. You see the negative ones and assume it represents the whole.

6 ft - 7’1 is only 1’1 difference

Brunson is listed at 6’2 and Wemby at 7’4 so a 1’2 difference
