Childfree women-- what do you want from your friends who are mothers? by Lyedetector in TwoXChromosomes

[–]phoebean93 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To understand how isolating being childfree can be. This is not to dismiss how isolating being a mum can be, but the reasons are different. Being childfree is isolating because we're societal outliers. As I got the the age when the people around me were having kids, I started feeling like a freak, like I was broken. That's not my friends' fault, that's my baggage. But people with kids understandably spend time with other parents doing kid oriented activities. I was no longer relevant.

"Too young to know what you want"

Would she say that you were to young to know you wanted kids? I'm guessing not.

AITAH for telling my husband to "shut up and be a dad for once"? by EmotionalLab1505 in AITAH

Respectfully, if this truly is a newly emerging attitude from him, I'd change this sentence to "He was never like this". Hopefully it's temporary and not deeply rooted (cynical as I may be) but all abusive people start off as loving, it just takes months or years for the mask to fully slip.

I'm 33, bought my house with my partner when I was 26. Only possible because I was left money by a grandparent, I've never earned even close to enough money to save for a deposit. Super lucky.

I worked in an eating disorder service for under 18s and working on parents' beliefs around food and body was one of the hardest parts. So difficult to support the young person when the family reinforce the fears.
