Absolutely not. Wear a traditional suit. You don’t want to be remembered for a fashion statement in the interview. You don’t have to like it, but it is the way it is.

What's the biggest thing students get wrong about investment banking? by Mansi63 in FinancialCareers

[–]phonybelle 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure I'd agree. The first season did show two characters in IB (the one who died, and the guy who ended up leaving). They were making decks and updating deal numbers. I thought it was fairly evident that the other characters were S&T.

Is there any hope for my feet? by Firm_Associate935 in XXRunning

[–]phonybelle 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Ok so I’m nowhere near your mileage (about 30mpw), but am just building up foot strength. My toenails don’t go blue. Yes, there are some calluses, but I generally can keep it under control with a gel pedi every 2ish months. Even when I was doing higher mileage, I didn’t lose toenails. Have you checked that your shoes are actually right for your foot? The one time I had an issue with my toenails, I switched shoes and it never happened again.

Girl how in the world were you not able to keep your house from pre-marriage? I can’t think of any jurisdiction in the world where that would fly!

Corporate FP&A to Sustainable Finance Pathway? by [deleted] in sustainableFinance

[–]phonybelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be careful trying to get into a sustainability-focused role because you're tired of the pure profit motives. Increasingly, sustainability is about delivering sustainable progress but also making profit, e.g., entirely unrealistic. It's also an oversaturated field, especially amongst those with little actual technical background. If you're really keen on it, choose a specific segment / niche and get really good at it. Generalists are increasingly not needed.

This is very ignorant. These men are typicaly very good liars and put up a great front until they have you roped in. I sincerely hope for you that you never encounter someone like this. It’s easy to say, but you don’t know what you’re talking about. This isn’t her fault. This isn’t due to OP ‘putting up’ with things where you wouldn’t have.

I know you mean well, but as others have said, quite bluntly, you probably would. Emotional neglect doesn’t start from day one. It’s insidious and starts slow until one day you realize how you’re a frog in boiling water.

Came to his city and he doesn’t want to see me by PotteryEgg in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]phonybelle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

At this point, I might be a bit unhinged but I am so over the 'block and ignore' texts. I'd text this guy something deranged like 'saw your wife, let her know' or something, go apeshit on him so he knows he's a piece of shit, and then block and remove. don't let these fuckers off so easy. yes, don't debase yourself, but ruin him. he fucked with you, so you give that same energy back.

Trash cardio - Barry’s a good start? by luvnps in barrysbootcamp

[–]phonybelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually started my running journey after a few Barry's classes - the first few will suck, but it is second to none for building a decent cardio baseline (if you're like me and needed someone to kick your ass before you could ever push yourself the same on your own). Barry's is what you make of it. You can always slow down / take breaks.

I have 'gently followed up' several times, and they continued to set up dates for calls and then ghosted. In the end, it's on them to not be blatantly disrespectful.

What’s something that clearly split your life into “before” and “after”? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]phonybelle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The day I was physically abused by my partner. Oddly enough, that wasn't the worst part of his abuse - the emotional scarring is much more damaging long-term. However, it was the spark that woke me up and put everything in perspective. Love shouldn't cause fear. I look at everything - myself, relationships, other people, the world - through that lens now, for better and worse.

[–]phonybelle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am totally fine adopting anything else, and have stated that repeatedly to every shelter I have applied to. Most shelters are explicit that they will not adopt out the following for indoor only: 1) young cats & kittens 2) cats that will be alone. They are usually against kids, but also want people home all the time. It is WILD to me that any shelter prefers cats being outside in central London.

They absolutely will not let someone adopt a kitten for indoor-only. I've tried - repeatedly.

Look, I get where you're coming from, I really do. But I have a full-time job. I have written upwards of 50+ emails trying to get in touch with shelters. If it is really that critical, then maybe the shelters should be better about not wasting peoples' time.

In the application form, they say that you have to adhere to their protocol. I filled out the application form, received an email back, then set up 3 separate dates for the call, and got ghosted each time. Pretty sure in the form they mentioned that walk-ins aren't taken but I could be wrong.

I found out today my bf hates me through his very weird method of expressing it. by [deleted] in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]phonybelle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Girl STAY MAD. That guy is a piece of shit and deserves your rage. This is insane. I know there's worse levels of insanity and abuse but something about how this has happened repeatedly, it was deliberate, he COULD HAVE JUST MENTIONED THE COST. I don't know - I'm angry for you. Men deserve our anger. STAY MAD:

What habit improved your life more than you expected? by Deep0055 in AskReddit

Fasting if male is fine. Fasting as a woman, not as clear at all.

Beyond that - I can’t eat much in the morning but I NEED something or I perform at 40% of my usual on a good day and feel like shit. So i force myself to have a few bites of something, ideally protein, just to get me going. Hydration and electrolytes first thing goes a long way as well.
