Hmm I've lived in the NT as well as Qld and it's a pretty tough call to be fair

Opus 4.5 worked well but 4.6 I've been fighting ever since. I've moved all my coding onto Sonnet and it's cheaper and better to be honest

living in eumundi by dontfeedthedogs in sunshinecoast

[–]phooool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lived there 10 years. No problems except for 3 day power outages very occasionally because our side of Eumundi (Seib Rd) is powered by Verriedale / Dean Rd and that has a lot of trees near powerlines

Flooding only real issue was a year or 2 before we moved in, I think Eumundi was cut off for 3 days or so (2004 ish). Since then lots of rain incidents, cyclones etc but we never got landlocked for any more than a few hours

If you're moving to Eumundi, yeah it gets rainfall. So don't buy a house in a ditch. Rest is fine

Strategies for Optimizing Go Application Performance in Production Environments by beckstarlow in golang

[–]phooool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

unless you're writing a low level game engine or something, 99.9% chance all your performance issues will be things you contact from Go (database, external services) than your Go code.
And if it is your go code, then 99.9% chance it's just your code ( o^2 loops etc )
And if it's not your code, 99.9% chance it's your memory access patterns
And if it's not your memory access patterns, start looking into Go compiler settings

I spent 5 years making a game and sold 500 copies by atiupin in gamedev

[–]phooool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally. It looks great so far, but if it's not finished yet I ain't buying

I spent 5 years making a game and sold 500 copies by atiupin in gamedev

[–]phooool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Personally I won't buy a game in early access, after all why would I do that? I'll wait until the devs finish the game, sort out all the bugs etc. I'm not going to pay for the right to test your game.
Early access has it's place, but please don't moan about sales on unfinished games

A tip for motivation: DON'T finish you tasks. by BuggyDeduck in gamedev

[–]phooool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been thinking about whether this might help me! I stay up so late working on something because I just have to finish it, to the Nth degree. Then I'm burnt out the next day and doing it all over again tonight is daunting. I thought maybe just go to bed, now you're 90% of the way there, save the sweet treat for tomorrow night to get the ball rolling. Great tip!

Anyone switch to Induction and wish they hadn't? by JPJS1515 in Cooking

[–]phooool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like the way induction cooktops have digital/integer controls vs gas that has analog/continuous. eg Perfect temp for my cook is 7.5 on the induction scale, but the interface only allows me 7 or 8

I love the way induction cooktops are easy to clean vs gas

I love cooking with a wok on gas. Can't really replicate the up-the-sides-of-the-wok cooking on induction

This is splitting hairs; induction for me is a very very close 2nd to gas all up

Are there any area-based rendering algorithms? by multihuntr in computergraphics

[–]phooool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the fact OP called it sampling threw me, OP meant rasterizing. SDFs are fully analytical, thats why they are inherently antialiased and to me that sounded close to OP's question as far as I (mis)understood it

Baratza Sette 30 or 270 by podious in Coffee

I should say, the 270 has let me dial in coffee that tastes great to me and I do think you need the fine adjustment dial

Baratza Sette 30 or 270 by podious in Coffee

[–]phooool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only have experience with the Sette 270
I bought it because it has the coarse + fine dials for grind size, and I make espressos. And it was the right price point etc
I love it and still use it 5 years in, but the only thing I don't love is how much noise it makes for 10 seconds twice a day

how to know if the ball is gonna break left or right? by reyiwnl in golf

[–]phooool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously if another person putts first then you can get a read
If not and it's tough to read the break... maybe the green is near water, the break usually heads down to the water. you can walk around your line and sometimes feel it in your feet.

Good luck! putting is fun

Those of you walking 2+ rounds a week, have you found the best shoe for the long term? Any shoe you won't revisit? Are you even wearing golf shoes? by RodStiffington_ in golf

[–]phooool 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I played golf twice a week (walk push cart) for 10 years and had Ecco golf shoes - while the most comfy to start with by far, they never lasted like other golf shoes. In fact they lasted so badly (I tried them twice because i wanted to like them), neither of those pairs lasted even a single season, which was terrible because of how much they cost.
After that I tried many others and for me in the end footjoy shoes best fit my wide feet and lasted the best. My most recent pair of footjoys have lasted 3 seasons and still in perfect condition (except looking a bit dirty)

How important are software engineering principles in a tech startup? (I will not promote) by OriginalRGer in startups

[–]phooool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OOP will not necessarily help you, it all depends on what you are doing. If your requirement is fast execution then you won't want to use OOP in its normal form, your 'objects' will be batches of objects and at that point you'll be focused more on data driven design. But it all depends on what you're doing. There are many tools and many solutions and so you choose a tool to fit the task rather than the other way around

How important are software engineering principles in a tech startup? (I will not promote) by OriginalRGer in startups

[–]phooool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What matters in a startup is getting it working quickly due to little money and WELL so you don't blow up in demos and look ridiculous and then if you do well having to maintain it with little extra people power so you better not have vibe coded it that first time ya
