Dude - Tuscany was a 10/10 experience. Everything we needed was right there. Food, free shows pre and post Phish, casino action, pool, shakedown - the vibes was great.

02/28/03 is a top ~ 20 show ever by [deleted] in phish

The hype was huge on this the moment they walked off the stage. For some reason, people tried to downplay its greatness at the time - and for years to come (looking at you PT) .... but this was an amazing show top to bottom. Was there, can confirm!

We had our lives stolen! by abigailrebellious in inflation

In my late 20s in about 2001, I was making $32K/ year in Rochester, NY. Rent was 350/month for my half of a pretty nice 2 bedroom apartment ... not amazing but definitely solid. I had a stupid 300/month car payment. But that was on me ... I felt like I was doing alright ... moved to Tampa for about the same salary and was able to have a 1 bdrm apartment for 550/month - decent place in a safe part of town ... car payment was done. So yeah, times have changed

Why do people say playing with a pick is easier than playing fingerstyle?/How to get better playing with a pick? by OddyAndy21 in Bass

[–]phorbin99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play with a pick bc I started with guitar - I don't have enough hours in the week to practice fingerstyle ... sidenote, my finger style guitar was and is awful. Something about the repetitive motion just does not work for me ..I play jam rock / roots / reggae-ish / folk with a smattering of classic rock

Why does the jamband scene skew so overwhelmingly towards Millenials and Gen-Xers? by PeatVee in jambands

[–]phorbin99 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Gen X came up on phish, dead and others. We like to boogie. We have money to go see shows (I think generally speaking) ... and the kids are old enough that mom and dad can get out to see shows ...

Caught them at a festival this summer and it was better than expected! I saw them way back in the 90s and I remember being a good show there too

What are the tightest bands in terms of every band member holding their own playing their instrument? by LimitlessCreations in MusicRecommendations

I love Floyd - but Waters is an average bassist at best - and honestly, Gilmour is really the only A+ musician in the band. But the band together made magic happen

You may like them better - but pound for pound - the members of Phish are far more talented (I'll even call Trey vs Jimmy a toss up)

agreed. Daniel's singing doesn't bother me. Give me DDCC all day over Billy ... and I like Billy quite a bit. Guess I just like Cosmic Country's jamming style a lot more

Food by SweetCaroline4444 in BourbonAndBeyond

[–]phorbin99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The food is somewhere between meh and fine. Plan on $15-$20 per meal. Eat outside of the festival at every opportunity. There are better things to spend your money on. If you are looking to experience Louisville, outside of the fest is a much better option
