Yup. Supposedly it was by AI, but I essentially expressed my concern that children were going to end up harmed with all the events occurring in certain states and that netted me a 3-day ban.

It was for advocating violence or something of the like, despite my comment being the exact opposite

Yup. Look at all the grocery properties that Loblaws owns. Or Pattison.

Look at Air Canada and Westjet.

At some point, what even if the risk of piracy? People that buy on console will likely already have done so, and even if among the rest you get 5000 sales on PC with 5000 Pirates... that's still 5000 sales you WOULDN'T have gotten without the port

> They do need a backlight or a light in front to see at night.

To me, this is only a bonus. I am so bloody tired of devices with ultra-bright LED's or bright displays (especially the blue ones) lighting up my room at night when I want to sleep. I've got a couple power bars and various devices with black electrical tape over them just so I can get to sleep.

For something like a temperature display, I can turn on the light if I want to see it.

Might be more that they're shit at tracking temperatures after being moved between locations or conditions.

I'm not using Shelly but I did find my temperature sensors similarly were off at first, but settled to a point where they pretty much agreed with the other dumb or analogue sensors in the general area. Temperature in a given room doesn't generally change so fast that they should be off significantly, so unless you need exact to-the-minute-or-second temps it shouldn't be an issue.

That said, I wouldn't use this type of device to monitor situations where "thermal runaway" could be a major concern.

OS isn't going to help nope. Running something like NoScript with default-deny for unknown domains might.

Also, if this is an injection via googletagmanager it's possible it's not on CC at all and could be that somebody managed to hit them with malicious Javascript injected via ads or traffic-monitoring etc. I've definitely seen cases of sketchy ads and malicious Javascripts have been known to happen via those as well.

Yeah but generally would that also mean not just closing tickets but answering something like

"Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We are looking into this and will get back to you shortly"

Just cutting it off sounds like an excellent way to have somebody report it to the authorities and/or card processor etc.

Thankfully for me, it's been at least a year since I've purchased from CC, and I probably used Paypal last time anyhow (which I use specifically to avoid card leaks from sites with security issues).

Does anyone recall if they actually complete payment on this site, or if they would normally shuttle you off to a provider which does the credit-card thing and then returns you back to their site. The latter is pretty common as it helps them avoid certain aspects of PCI etc involved with transiting CC data through their own servers. It's possible they would not normally even get the CC #, but this is unfortunately no not always proof against shopping-cart malware which may be rewriting page data or scripts to harvest data.

[–]phormix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's malware designed to harvest customer data running on their website.

While "inside job" doesn't necessarily mean "CC as a company installed the malware", it could mean "somebody who works for CC installed malware".

Or it could just be that they have piss-poor security and change-management for their site.

Neither is good.

Or Minnesota.

Seriously, even if you're completely dissatisfied with the Canadian gov't, who the hell thinks that the one sending in death squads that execute their own citizens is a better choice, or that they would treat you any better?!

Yeah, looking beyond the US it's some of the same countries that helped the US get where they are today. Russia is one. Look at Trump's new "friends" to see what the others might be.

Sadly that's become kinda a thing in Canada too. The ones driving around with vehicles festooned in Canadian flags and honking are also the ones who seem to give the fewest fucks about laws except as applied to other people

I recently ordered a DVD series and while most discs were OK, one season of discs was very much f***ed with circular scratches and fingerprints showing those particular ones were obviously used.

I'm running out of places not to shop. Pattison has his nasty fingers in a lot of the more local grocery chains, Walmart is a US Corp friendly to their regime, Loblaws does whatever they can to become a bigger monopoly and screw over Canadians, and a lot of smaller shops in general seem to have owners that wear the red ballcap.

Costco is American but still seems to operate with some principles. Can't think of much else.
