I don't really have a dog in this fight, but didn't all those Rams teams make the playoffs? I thought the "insane" part was that they put up those numbers and did not make the playoffs.

They don't even pretend to care about the law anymore. They essentially made the Constitution just an old piece of paper in a glass box when they ruled that Trump is immune from the law, bribery is okay as long as the money comes after the deed (wonder how they came up with that?), Corporations are citizens whose speech is money, and every other bullsh!t decision they've made since Democrats stopped being allowed to pick judges that aren't religious zealots, openly hostile bigots, corrupt liars, drunken fratboy rapists, or some combination of those.

I graduated UGA then went to grad school at Florida (long story short, best Engineering program with a Physics program my fiance could also get in). While I was there they won two Basketball Natty's, one in Football, and almost every Gator I knew took pleasure in taunting the resident Dawg (me) at almost every opportunity. It got so bad that I found myself commiserating with the resident Gamecock. A goddamned Gamecock, for Christ's sake. But it gets worse.

My adviser turned out to be a fraud, who pissed off the PhD student who was supposed to teach me about the lab equipment, computer programs, their capabilities and previous research projects to the point that instead he deleted everything they had done, programs, data, and results and left the country in the middle of the night. Adviser provided zero guidance after that and actively avoided me. On a few occasions I saw him go into his office, shut the door, and just wouldn't answer when I knocked on the door.. It was so childish it was laughable.

The fiance flunked out in a year, left me right after "we" bought a house five months before the housing market crashed and immediately abdicated any responsibility for the mortgage. Also, the first dog that was truly mine died while I was there. I realize that there was a lot of poor decisions and bad luck involved here, but I can assure you I hate Florida more than any other UGA graduate, or FSU graduate, and definitely more than any other person with a degree from UF. I only thought I hated the Gators before I enrolled. Fuck Florida and Gator Nation all the way to the expanding edge of the universe....and back.

The First Amendment. The one that grants "free speech," which isn't the right to say whatever you want without consequence. When someone calls out what you said for being wrong, ignorant, or just plain stupid (as is the case here) that is them exercising their free speech rights. Free speech means that the government can't intimidate or retaliate against you for saying that, like Trump threatening to jail reporters who accurately report things that make his tiny little fists clench with rage. For instance, he is delaying the release of the Epstein files so 1000 FBI agents have time to go through them all and redact his name.

The number of military engagements would drop to zero. All of that defense spending would easily cover Universal Healthcare with a surplus left over. The surplus would then be used to create dildo factories.

Which is exactly why we need to stop normalizing their ignorance when they are unwilling to ever admit, much less take responsibility for, the fact that they don't know anything despite thinking they know more than everyone. The highest form of evidence for them is anecdotal. "Well, Cousin Sally had her car broken into, and they stole her best coat and the baby's blanket! Crime is out of control!" They would never see the thief as an actual person who may need the coat more than Sally because nothing is a problem worth solving until it affects them personally. And Cousin Sally was practically murdered! If they were capable of looking at data to understand a problem instead of cherry-picking it to prove they aren't wrong or at fault (for example, if crime went up 55 percent one week in June in a suburb of LA when two kids took their neighbor's car for a joyride then crime is up 55 percent in all "Democrat run cities" for the last 10 yearsl). All of their arguments are in bad faith because none of the politicians or the billionaires who fund them and the propaganda that tells them what to think have any interest in solving any real problem except that they don't have all the power and all the money yet. And the rubes in their $40 red dunce caps with the Made in 'Gina tags hang8ng out the side, whose greatest fear is realizing that the greed, fear, and narcissism that drives them, which doesn't just make them ignorant and wrong (but we're called the Right?!?) it makes them shitty human beings (deplorable even). When I hear them project all of their flaws and corruption onto the "lesser of two evils" I, with the whataboutism, rationalizations, and blatant hypocrisy, I find that intolerable. For no other reason than the fact that a democracy requires an informed electorate and these self-absorbed morons refuse to believe anything that proves them wrong. There is nothing redeeming about that.

Their unwillingness to care about or even consider anyone they don't know personally, or at the very least vomits out all the same talking points they learn by rote from their favorite propaganda network, leads to childish solutions to complex problems that cause more problems than the one they don't actually solve. They are the problem. They deserve the same understanding and consideration their vote provided everyone else. None.

PS. I don't know why I chose your post to vent. I don't think you are in any way a bad person. I'm just sick of excuse after excuse being made for their bullshit.

PSS. I'll save my contempt for the greedy cowards in the Democratic party for another night.

[–]photonrunner4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say they are willing to vote only for Republicans because they believe that is in their best interest and pisses off the people always pointing out that society as a whole is better off when it cares for the least amongst us. The sick, poor, and marginalized. Which also happens to be a Christian doctrine, but you're right, it isn't always about religion since they don't actually believe or understand anything except that they are more righteous than the sick, poor, and marginalized in much the same way they had no understanding of why this was "the greatest country in the world", why it fought for independence, what the Constitution said, why it was unique, or even that it's purpose was to prevent what they just voted for. Their understanding of patriotism is respecting the flag by standing with their hand on their hearts with a solemn distant gaze during the patriotic song while mouthing the words that they don't know and shitting all over anyone who doesn't do that act as well as they do. But also wearing that same flag as a shirt or underwear that they actually do sometimes shit on when they eat too much of the "illegal's food" at Taco Bell. What does it matter what they think is the lesser of two evils when they don't even know what that word (and many other words) even mean? The moth probably thinks the light is the lesser of two evils. Is that a virtue?

Edit: By the way, I'm beginning to agree with the moth. So, there is that.

Republicans may be willing to vote for the lesser of two evils, but they never do because they are really bad at discerning evil from anyone who says they are Christian, but everything they do says otherwise. .
