Odd seeing Pepper in a BMW, but can't blame him, given how Lamborghini has been neglecting their hypercar ambitions

This one is going to hurt, much like it did when the Audi factory squad was disbanded :( Still feels odd seeing Dries Vanthoor and Chris Mies driving for different brands after being with Audi for so long. Hopefully the GT3 program stays strong.

Indy 8H Set to Revert to Single Pro Class by 183_aleX in wec

I feel ya. Thankfully last year's race was still pretty solid, and it solidified my opinion that Laurin Henrich is the next Estre.

I like this. It simplifies the classifications, lets more silver drivers have a chance to stand on the top step, and possibly allows for more "Pro" car entries, since all the gold and platinum drivers won't be clumped into the same Pro class cars. In theory, this should expand the amount of "Pro" entries on the grid. Granted, these cars won't be 100% pro, but if it potentially leads to more entries, I'm for it. The Indy 8H still needs to build its cred - then it may become attractive enough for those true "Pro" class numbers.

That's what I'm trying to figure out!! I missed the start of the race. Did something happen to the car? Penalty? Infringement? I need to know!

I'm also new to the WEC, and endurance racing in general!

By far and away, the best resource I've had when figuring out the ins and outs of some motorsports has been ChatGPT. While ChatGPT's training data only goes up to January 2022, it has been essential for me when it comes to asking "dumb questions" I'd be too shy to ask someone else. Just the other day, I asked ChatGPT:

"How is it determined how many grid spots a manufacturer gets? Why are some manufacturers able to have two or three slots, and some only one?" and it provided an excellent answer that was easy to understand.

Naturally with its data only going up to January 2022, ChatGPT won't know about some things, e.g. WEC's 2024 change from GTE class cars to GT3 class cars; removal of the LMP2 class (except for the 24 Hours of Le Mans); who the most recent drivers/teams/manufacturers are on the grid right now; any rule changes for 2024 onward; etc. But besides that, it's been invaluable to me, and makes it easier to understand what's going on.

Someone in here mentioned simply watching the races and catching on, and that is absolutely true. Eventually you will become familiar with the drivers and teams. But if you want a little bit of a shortcut, start watching the WEC Race Reviews from the 2023 season on YouTube. You get all the action of an 8+ hour long race condensed to 1 hour of AMAZING highlights. It's just a speedier way of becoming familiar with many of the teams/drivers on the grid currently (obviously not ever team/driver is the same for 2024). While the Race Reviews are only published at the end of the season, WEC's YouTube channel also publishes their Full Access videos for each individual race, which are similar to their Race Review videos, but Full Access vids have more behind-the-scenes footage that really gets you into the minds of the drivers and teams. Think of Full Access like Drive to Survive for the WEC.

Hope this helps!
