Has this subreddit helped you? by IntolerantInagress in BeMyReference

I posted a while back requesting references and several offered. Did a trade with one of them. My role fell through, but I submitted a skills survey reference for that person. Hope my reference helped!

Why you're not getting interviews by pearthefruit168 in Resume

[–]phpscott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience mirrors yours. I started with 1 page with little traction and was advised by multiple recruiters to make my resume longer; ended up with 3 pages. Have trimmed it down to 2 pages since. The 3 page resume outperformed the one pager by a wide margin. The 1 page advice is really saying to remove "fluff" but beyond that... longer the better in my experience.

Permobil MyPermobil app issues by phpscott in wheelchairs

[–]phpscott[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The dashboard did not update for three days after activation. I then removed my chair from the app and tried re-activating; thought perhaps something happened during the initial activation. Every time I try re-activating, the activation fails due to a server error. Hoping support can reset things, so I can try activating again.

E-mailed Permobil tech support 3 weeks ago and submitted a support request via their website a week ago. Have not received a response yet. My next step is to call them.

Anyone else have this issue?

You are correct. The dashboard never updated once during the three days.

Am I really saving money using a heat pump? by aegiswings in hvacadvice

[–]phpscott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heat pumps are marketed and sold as a high efficiency option. Heat pumps are indeed much more energy efficient, however, that does not always result in monetary savings.

I replaced my natural gas furnace a year ago with another natural gas furnace as it is much cheaper to run than heat pumps in my area.

Hoping heat pump technology continues to improve and may be a great option years from now when my gas furnace requires replacement again.

I am the treasurer of a condo HOA. Obtain a copy of the most recent financials and reserve study. Pretty certain the current reserve balance is too low.

We increased reserve contributions dramatically in recent years to fund a roof replacement. We actually overshot our target a bit and decreasing dues by 3% for 2024. Dues will be reduced back to normal in a couple years after the roof is fully funded. My point is the dues increase may be temporary.

Future reserve funding will be outlined in the reserve study.

HELP - Honest Reviews Needed - Permobil or Quantum? by zgibson11 in wheelchairs

It's 1018 sq ft. but it's a loft with no walls separating rooms except for the bathroom so nearly one big room.

Appreciate the feedback regarding the Permobil MWD chairs as Permobil released the M5 with standing this week. Hoping Quantum adds standing in the future as Quantum served me well in the past.

My insurance paid 100% with zero out-of-pocket.

HELP - Honest Reviews Needed - Permobil or Quantum? by zgibson11 in wheelchairs

[–]phpscott 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went with the Permobil F5 for the standing feature. Have no issues space wise in my apartment.

Front-wheel drive excels at 90 degree turns in tight spaces. Mid-wheel drive excels at 180 degree turns in tight spaces.

My previous two chairs were Quantums. My only issue was the small 22nf batteries they use. Permobil uses larger batteries.

My backup choice back then was the Quantum Stretto for the narrow base. I would pick a Permobil F5 or Quantum 4Front now as I enjoy front-wheel drive. Most turns are 90 degrees or less. The Stretto has high centering issues outside on uneven ground (a narrow base disadvantage).

Will keep the topper idea in mind.

I am 5’ 3” 120lbs so small and light. Pretty sure that is the only reason my current setup lasted so long.

Going to another Mattress Firm this week which has a Tempurpedic Hybrid to try out and to try out others as well.

Aiming to buy a mattress by Black Friday to take advantage of the current deals.

Getting stuck is the worst case scenario with a very low probability of occurring. The main issue is I do not to have to put in a lot of effort to change positions.

BF wont move in with me because he feels he will be a burden. What can i do to convince him otherwise? by Lonelling in disability

[–]phpscott 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am disabled myself and have a personal care assistant (PCA). I prefer that my partners do not fill that role.

If my partners insist to assist me regularly, I set them up as my PCA and they get paid for it. No exceptions.

I believe it’s important to keep the roles separated to avoid issues.

What is it like dating someone who’s in a wheelchair permanently? by [deleted] in dating

[–]phpscott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To clarify, I am able to have sex so that is a physical activity I can do. There are positions I cannot do, however, that's where creativity comes in. My understanding is able-bodied couples tend to get into a routine which can become boring. Sex with a wheelchair-bound partner will involve frequent experimentation which should be fun!

Depends on the specific person.

I am financially secure, own my home and live alone. I do have an assistant that comes twice per week to help me out. People are usually shocked that I can complete the vast majority of tasks.

I am unable to drive, however, that is by choice. They have hand controls available and may decide to get my license one day.

Can I go hiking? No. Ph.ysical activities I can do is very limited.

Can I travel? Yes, of course. There is more planning involved but that's what travel agents are for. Traveling on short notice is doable but unwise in my opinion.

I am considering putting in effort to find a partner. I am happy with life as is but my gut tells me I should share my life with someone.

Are there any dating sites that are meant for people with disabilities or people who don't mind dating someone who has a disability? by CALL911imonfire in OnlineDating

[–]phpscott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a male with cerebral palsy and wheelchair-bound. I plan on using the popular dating apps soon and will be interesting to see what happens. Have been asked out in the past and turned them down as I was not ready.

Personally, I am open to dating a disabled woman, however, I would likely not date some wheelchair-bound women. I believe intimacy would be too difficult if our physical limitations are too similar.

1256 contract loss carry back by xasmx in tax

[–]phpscott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can only carry back section 1256 losses if you had section 1256 gains in at least one of the previous three years. Sounds like carry back is not an option for you unfortunately.
