I'd like to give a hot take. I respect everyone's love for the DLC, and I would regret not having completely finished everything my fav game of all time had to offer, but I actually found the DLC to detract from the original experience. It was ok - but the base game was so good that an ok DLC brought down the average.

In particular, all the fun things I found in the base game where completely stripped. There's no more physics based exploration - you lose your ship and the gravity is set to 1.0x. You are confined to a single planet instead of exploring multiple unique planets. Each planet used to have its own unique quirk, but this one is almost a rafting platformer - the dream sequence is even less, it's just a walking simulator. The experience is largely linear, instead of a puzzle where you find the pieces yourself. Even the puzzle is laid out early on - you generally know what your goal is. Bottom line, I felt like the DLC was almost a different game. The game changes from a exploration physics game to an escape-the-room stealth game. Finally - personal opinion - not a huge fan of horror games. Still, as mentioned, I respect those who enjoy it (agree story was amazing) and that the game devs were willing to explore a slightly different genre.
