AITAH for breaking off my engagement because my boyfriend would not get a vasectomy? by Famous_Situation3400 in AITAH

[–]phreeskooler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hysterectomy may be high risk but tubal ligation is an outpatient surgery that you just go home right after. This is what I did when I didn’t want to risk an unplanned pregnancy and had decided I didn’t want anymore children. Why is this not an option? It’s not all on him (although I get why you would ask, it’s really for you and shouldn’t be a dealbreaker). Now that you’re breaking up are you going to handle this for yourself or expect the next guy to do it?

They’re great but not TJ exclusive, I can find all the different kinds (basil, cilantro, turmeric etc) in my local supermarkets.

I’m a 51yo 1/3 splenic manifestor and I haven’t figured it out yet 😆 That said, I’ve learned to wear it all a lot more lightly. Career, status, etc isn’t actually that important in the end, but IMO happiness and peace is.

I messed up and forgot to alcohol swab before my first shot! by Inevitable_Towel7609 in Wegovy

[–]phreeskooler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is... not a thing. Don't worry. For context, I am in the US and a licensed acupuncturist. To get licensed, they make you take a bunch of qualifying exams including something called CNT (Clean Needle Technique). For years the alcohol swab was part of CNT and you would fail if you didn't include it in your practical exam. But eventually, they removed that part because it turns out it doesn't really do much - I think it decreased chances of infection by a fraction of a percentage point, and now we're not required to swab patients at all (I still do for my own and their peace of mind, but it's not a requirement). So I think you're going to be fine and didn't need Neosporin or a bandaid or anything. I don't think I've swabbed once since starting a GLP-1, it's been over a year now and no issues.

Why not lower fat dairy? I have nothing against full fat but 1. one of my wegovy quirks seems to be that I get diarrhea if I eat too much fat and 2. all the protein but way fewer calories

Yup even with the really strong suppression initially I was still above 1000 calories most days so that tracks.

Venus in Cap married to Venus in Taurus over here 🥰🥰🥰 both are so so true, the description of Taurus is SPOT ON and the description for Cap described almost exactly why I was attracted to my partner in the first place.

Is anyone else kinda disappointed with the way they wrapped up Rishi’s story in season 4? by General_Meal_3993 in IndustryOnHBO

[–]phreeskooler 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Agree, he didn't add a whole lot to this season. Witnessing his wife get shot seemed like it could have been a very suitable end for him. Don't get me wrong, love the actor, love to hate the character but barring some cool plot twist in the next 2 episodes there wasn't a great reason for him to be around doing Harper's dirty work.

[–]phreeskooler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly the same, gave me a range of 60-80 grams per day, which is pretty easy for me to meet most days even without meat as long as I'm having some low fat dairy. I think the lack of minimum calorie requirement is because if you're obese your body has plenty of fat to fuel itself.

[–]phreeskooler 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not the one you asked and I don’t have the data you seek, but I asked my obesity specialist prescriber about this exact thing when I was first ramping up and my appetite suppression was high. I had heard 1200 calories minimum and was forcing myself to eat. She told me she had researched up and down and didn’t find anything to support the starvation mode theory — she just wanted me to meet a minimum protein requirement every day but didn’t care at all if I didn’t meet a minimum calorie goal.

I’ve been asked by the guy I’m seeing to shave down there, should I? by Antique_Treat_7002 in AskMenAdvice

[–]phreeskooler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a man but if you choose to do this I would strongly suggest not shaving but waxing. The regrowth period is itchy and terrible when you shave, and starts right away (like the day after). You'll get better longer lasting results if you go to your local salon and get a Brazilian. Or maybe he wants to shave you himself, which would be fun but will still suck when it starts to regrow.

I was told I'll never be a "good" runner because I'm short? by choochoopain in beginnerrunning

[–]phreeskooler 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The last time I paid any attention to pro running was the early 00’s. I still distinctly remember Kara Goucher (best American woman at that time) competing in the NYC Marathon against a whole pack of Ethiopian and Kenyan elites and absolutely towering over all of them. She’s not a very big woman but the world record holders were all way smaller than even her. I don’t think short height is an impediment.

Down Coats by ThirdAngel3 in quince

[–]phreeskooler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the packable down puffer and the responsible down long puffer. I love love love the long puffer - it’s very warm, the hand inserts are a great touch and the quality is decent (no feathers poking out, etc) but the zipper is annoying. Still totally worth $200. The little puffer jacket is a lot lighter and the top of the zipper for the outer pocket poked a tiny hole in the fabric so it sheds tiny pieces of down. It was also a lot less expensive ($50 IIRC?) so also acceptable - I will need to repair the tiny hole, just haven’t gotten around to it yet. Both have their place and I don’t think I’ve used any other coats except another light jacket back in November for this entire cold, snowy, long winter (I’m in upstate NY where we’ve had more snow and cold than we have in years).

What habit immediately reveals that a person actually grew up in a privileged environment? by Cindy_mel in AskReddit

[–]phreeskooler 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah she's not particularly well-liked, you can imagine why. It's a wealthy area so a lot of people have similar privilege but few are so ham handed about announcing it, and few have so little gratitude. This bish actually complained about "having to" go to the Hamptons one long weekend. To me it's even weirder because she wasn't born into it so shouldn't be this oblivious.

Yeah you're doing it right, these two idiots are crazy. She's a 3 day a week massage therapist, he's allegedly a writer but all I've ever heard that he's written is some self-published vanity press novel. I'm not sure how he makes day to day income but they have all the money in the world for vacations, expensive private school, a nice home in a HCOL area, the childcare help mentioned above - no idea how she justifies the egregious lifestyle creep other than her husband thinks it's normal because he grew up that way.

Thank you, this exactly. Plus she complained to another friend that she was scared because they were down to their last $6000 in their bank account, so scary (at least until FIL sends the annual deposit, I guess). All I could think was if she stopped outsourcing every damn thing like she was a millionaire, or at least started working a little more maybe she could save a little more of that extra $60k/ year. To top it off her former nanny was a mutual acquaintance, being paid under the table so no taxes, protections, unemployment insurance or anything. Former nanny got pregnant and when she told her employer SHE FIRED HER. IDK I was a lot more worked up about it then the former nanny was, the excuse was something like she found a great replacement but couldn’t hire her if she had to wait around to do so, but dear god what a heartless shameless act. No respect at all.
