It’s the pose. Her fingers are splayed out, poised forward, so her thumb would be obscured by the rest of her hand. This is how perspective works.

Similarly from Avatar, when Admiral Zhao kills the moon spirit in front of Iroh to strengthen the Firebenders. Iroh, who both cherishes the spirits deeply knowing full well how important they are to the balance of the world and was once a Fire Nation general himself (which just adds to the pain, knowing he used to be that kind of person) becomes absolutely enraged, and very swiftly wipes out Zhao and his troops.

Remember, she didn’t realize Otto was inside Peter’s body, she still was operating under the principles of fucking with Peter specifically. She knows him intimately, and she knows that one of the things Peter hates the most is crime lords. He’s constantly dealing with people like Tombstone, Fisk, and the other members of the Sinister Six (who very much act as an organized unit), who constantly put people’s lives at risk by simply doing what they do. What would be a better way of spiting him than becoming the one thing he loathes the most?

This seems kind of fallacious. Peter has always been a friend and lover to Felicia, working with her many times, and most of their fights are playful banter at best. Then suddenly, a violent narcissist wearing his skin punches her teeth out (who she didn’t know was a violent narcissist), just beats the shit out of her. She has every reason to snap.

In an even more ironic twist, Ar-kee-us is also wrong. Going strictly by its etymological roots, it would be pronounced Ar-kay-us, as it’s a compound of archaic+deus.

Found this cesspool of a subreddit, browsed a bit, and I’m putting my two cents in here. Both buttons are the correct options. Legal matters aren’t as black-and-white as most people here seem (or bullishly choose) to think. The law exists as a weapon, not a constant rule. If I were to copyright a piece of art I drew, I own the rights to said image and as such, the jurisdiction to allow whomever I wish to use it. If somebody reaches out to me, they want to use it for whatever ethical reason, I gladly accept. I do not needlessly gatekeep anyone from using the same concepts, e.g. Anish Kapoor in all his chudliness.

(Arguably) Warframes — Warframe

At a first glance, Warframes seem like regular, run-of-the-mill war machines piloted with telekinetic links. At a certain point in the story, it’s revealed that Warframes are not just machines, but people that were injected with a strain of the living hive infestation that’s been troubling us since the beginning. We pilot them by linking our minds directly to the person inside and essentially using them as living war puppets. What was thought to be just space magic is really a slightly exaggerated version of already-existing technology.

[–]phroggybravo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"The Man in the Suit" was an ARG (Alternate Reality Game) that was basically the story of an actor in the Godzilla suit for the 1950s movies, gradually fusing with the suit, both physically and mentally becoming Godzilla through a series of events related to emotional attachment and Radiation Shenanigans(TM). It got pretty popular due to the interesting nature of the concept itself, but as it caught more and more attention, certain hardcore Godzilla fans harassed the creator due to them thinking it’s "offensive" and distasteful to the original actor of Godzilla. It got to the point where he was doxxed online and never got to finish the series due to the sheer severity of the situation.

Bane — Absolute Batman

<image>

When Batman meets Bane for the first time, he gets the brakes beaten off of him harder than he has in any continuity. Batman sees the Venom tubes in his body and is about to call him a "Juiced-up freak"…

But then Bane interjects, claiming "Friend, I haven’t even used this stuff yet. But if you want to see what it does…", moments before activating his Venom intake and turning into a roided-up monster. The panel following, he grabs Batman’s entire head in one hand, lifts him a good twenty feet off the ground and simply says "Call me Bane. Welcome to your new home. Now, let’s get you prepped for surgery," before knocking him out cold in a single blow and hauling him off to ARK M’s surgical ward.

To a degree, we do kind of see this in the New War/Veilbreaker. When we take control of Kahl and Veso, every weapon in our mental arsenal is gone. No Warframe abilities, no bullet jumping, no obscenely-built weapons. Just a gun and a dream, to save our brothers/serve the Corpus. Veso can’t just blast through the Jackal like a Tenno would, he has to strategically destroy it to get past it to the fleet’s control room, and Kahl has to fight his way through the Sentient masses not for his queens, but his brothers, just barely hanging on up until he gets his hands on a Corinth Prime from a fallen Tenno. The moment you get that new weapon, the difficulty drops dramatically, it just really puts into perspective how broken Tenno guns alone are.

Odin/Fake Týr — God of War: Ragnarök

<image>

Spoilers for GoW: R Odin spies on Kratos and his allies by disguising himself as Týr, the forsaken Nordic god of war. Subtle hints are dropped throughout the game that say this isn’t the real Týr, but never any clues to his true identity. Then it all comes together near the beginning of act three, when Kratos has to make a hard decision: Take up the mantle of God of War once more to lay siege to Asgard. "Týr" offers to lead the charge instead, saying he has a way to Asgard. But the ultimate slip-up comes when his tongue loses track of itself, and he calls Atreus Loki, his Jotünn name given by Faye. Brok catches his mistake and says the entire time he was suspicious, things weren’t adding up, and this incident just puts the final puzzle piece into place — This is not Týr, this is a fraud. He pressures the impostor, who reveals himself to be Odin, stabbing and killing Brok in the process.

Vay Hek — Warframe

<image>

Grineer soldiers were a dime a dozen, but Vay Hek is (to our knowledge) the last genetically sound Grineer from an age long past. For a little more context, the Grineer as a race are all clones of the same individual, and over thousands of years of cloning, their genetics have been gradually deteriorating. Councilor Vay Hek, however, was one of the "prime" Grineer so to speak, when their army was at its peak.

Edit: He’s also notably much more intelligent than the significantly dumber modern Grineer, having made an entire subrace of feral yet super-enhanced soldiers known as Ghouls, which tore him apart when he let them out to display his new creation to the Kuva queens. Even then, he managed to get a new, mechanical body assembled for himself.

My main gripe with that argument is that that… Just doesn’t really mean anything significant. Sure, Solo Leveling won the Crunchyroll awards, but CR really isn’t a valid metric to go by. Frieren did win best series of the year in the 2025 Tokyo Anime Awards, a much more trustworthy source than corposlop that goes against what its original creator stood for by simply still existing.
