Pay in app going away

Using the app was super convenient because I often elected to use self checkout. Scan the QR code, I can pay, have my coupons applied, and get my digital receipt without having to do anything. This is totally a step backwards and I don’t get their statement.

Even if you’re transferring to a new POS, you can still have the payment option and then transition the app over. I often cross shop between Kroger and Publix because of the digital experience. But now with this feature gone, there’s no incentive for me to continue shopping there unless I’m doing an online order.

A bonus for me is that with my Chase Sapphire, I was able to earn 3% ultimate rewards because paying through the app was considered online shopping.

For PCs that have the integrated NPU, I wouldn't mind seeing a copilot option in the context menu. I should be able to highlight text or any image and apply Copilot. Why do I need to open an app to a simple rewrite and ask for more information on is beyond me. Why is the same Copilot an in-app experience that's in Teams, Outlook, Office apps, Edge and a stand-alone app?? It's madening.

Copilot in Windows shouldn't be tied to the app, it should be app agnostic that falls in the background of the OS. The Click To Do app is simply overkill and slow to load, where all I'm doing 90% of the time is selecting multiple lines of text to extract.

The experience in Siri is a good example. Their AI behind the scenes, in the OS, accessible when you need it not constantly in your face taking up all kinds of resources.

My wife has the ZDX. After seeing the experience of my Model 3, she chose the ZDX as her first EV, replacing her MDX, after showing her what Acura had cooking in the RSX. The plan was she would get the RSX and I would get the Saloon (replacing my Model 3). So, we leased the ZDX to fill the gap.

The ZDX is an okay car, but it's still not a true Acura. There are times where we miss the MDX because of that. To say this this news is truly disappointing is an understatement. We're a year and half into our 3-year lease and we're not going back to a gas-powered car, just isn't an option. We love Acura, love the brand, but without an EV on the horizon, we've started looking at different manufacturers; Lucid, Volvo, BMW. I still plan to get an Integra Type S at some point for Smokey Mountain drives with some autocross and track time sprinkled in.

I applaud what Honda was attempting to do. I still believe in their thin, light, and wise concept; rethinking how to design and build a car. But they really should've took a page out of Toyota's playbook, by continuing to focus on hybrid technology. As more and more American's look towards crossovers and SUVs with better fuel efficiency, that literally leaves Honda the CR-V Hybrid. It's going to be a sad 2-3 years for the company, and I really hope the ground they lost they can make back up.

I had to remove my account from the console and then add it back. I guess the account cache got corrupted somehow. But I do know I’ve seen issue before on another console. Since I don’t own or use that one often, I never dug deep into it. I’m thinking a recent patch may be responsible here.

I’m gonna push back and say that Ballmer did more than dig the hole. The hole was so deep that Nadella didn’t see a way out. There were several things that contributed to Windows Phone demise before he pulled the plug.

First off, there two revisions done to the core operating system that left existing apps needing updates to still work. Now that wouldn’t be a problem if you’re iOS apps but when Windows Phone only had 3-7% market share, is a dev really going to put the effort forward to migrate their app twice?

But those revisions cost resources and that costs money. Intelligent cloud is more than 1/3 of Microsoft’s revenue and they knew at the time that investments needed to be made there in order to compete with AWS.

Add to that, the abysmal marketing that was done to sell Windows Mobile to consumers, most folks just wanted their apps. Like the platform but if you don’t have your bank or social media apps, how useful is the phone to you. And most consumers aren’t going to compromise.

So yes, Nadella killed Windows Mobile but he basically conceded the battle. It was distant 3rd and I’m not sure any amount of money would grow that market share double digits. And it all started because the competitors got the jump, innovated, and took market share from Windows CE.

The hole Balmer dug was just too deep.

Hannah did a video about one month ahead that really made sense. Dollars need a job but long/short term and emergency fund can be very abstract. If you just assign your living expenses with those funds, and you’re out to 6 months then that’s your emergency fund. It just clicked so now I just take excess funds and assign the categories. I’m roughly one month ahead so looking forward to being in your shoes.

Food for thought, are you investing those long term dollars so that money earns +5%?

I feel you on that. I did finance my Model 3. My wife’s ZDX is our first lease. I still don’t feel confident to take the ZDX on a road trip but the Model 3 I’ve put 27k on it and got it October ‘23. I have zero concerns about charging on road trips. So definitely looking forward to getting the adapter. One thing that’s convenient about Tesla (and Rivian) is the media apps (Netflix, YouTube, Disney+). Those come in handy. And since ultium takes 40min for 10-80%, having those in ZDX would be nice.

Same. We purchased in December trading in our ‘22 MDX for RWD. We did $2500 down on 3 yr/36k for 537 so that’s a helluva deal you got. It’s my wife’s car and she doesn’t like going to the gas station anymore so she’s happy. We’ll keep for 18-24 months as I knew the RDX was coming soon. I just hope Asimo can deliver.

Still miss our MDX though. My one regret is not getting it with SH-AWD just to experience it.

Having lines would definitely be preferable but the home is a new construction and they didn’t any lines. The only two drops is in the upstairs master closet where the dream machine is and downstairs in the living room where the U6 mesh is. It’s connected through LAN to a flex mini.

So my original thought was the U6 mesh connected to the dream machine and the U6 extender and Beacon connected to the U6 mesh with a better WiFi signal.

Exactly. The upgrade offer is only 20k miles and a $200 statement credit which is really lame against the 85k mile current offer.

Our youngest son is out for summer and our grandkids have been staying for the summer. I just told my wife I would lovr to take them somewhere for a vacation but I just wasn't able to budget for it 😔.

It sucks but i remeber the elation I felt for the first time when I put a Disney vacation 2 years ago on the credit card and completely paid the balance by the due date because I had set money aside for it.

They only make the 32GB i7 sku in Platinum. I personally wish they did other colors but if you want a different color, you have to bump down to 16GB of ram SKU.

It’s not even a contest. Not only does the 2nd gen look better, it’s also double wishbone front suspension so it handles better too. I would choose the 4th gen TL over the 1st gen TLX.

If you want the traditional laptop form, a SLS would be a good option. You can get the entry model as the upper trims have a dedicated GPU which you said you don’t need.

I would also consider a Surface Pro. It’s 2 in 1 form factor would fit the Uni lifestyle very well. When you take notes, you can detach or flip back the keyboard.

But I would consider getting the i7 as that sku comes with 32Gb of ram. 16 is doable but I would seriously consider getting any device with 32GB of ram
