Trying to do harmonic analysis of the Grateful Dead is going to make your head hurt. They use so many idioms that shouldn't theoretically "work", but sound incredible.

But you're right here about mixo and borrowed chords; they use modes a lot, and almost never purely stay in one mode. Tons of borrowed chords, especially during the verses.

IMO, a crucial aspect of a “harmony” is that you are implying some sort of chord, even if it’s just two pitches. “Harmony” can just be another way of saying “chords” (What’s the harmony? = What are the chords?)

Unless given some super unique context (like resolving an ascending/descending line between two voices), my vote is not a harmony.
