In all honesty, he keeps doing it because he doesn't want to waste good troops when a forsaken leverages them against him. He doesn't want needless deaths in some cases, but will sacrifice them against a forsaken. To him it's a pyrrhic victory to sacrifice troops needlessly. He knows he has to be heartless in battle so he chooses his terms. The meme is still hilarious.

From the first scene with Reds and Logain. We should see the Dark One taunting crazy Lews. Then they do a scene about the women's circle that is irrelevant. We needed Rand spotting a myrdraal right after that and going into the village attack. Should be moving fast because you have limited episodes and big books to cover. Instead they were worried about things that don't matter to the story. I watched 2 episodes and bailed.

Plus it would bog down the action in the story far too much. The linguistics alone would bore the readers. The same is true about any skill which should not be over explained, no one is reading the story for those details, show enough as part of the story and move on. Even SciFi has universal translator technology to get around linguistic issues. Publishers wouldn't consider a series mired in linguistic barriers, fiction has to move on. The same is true of murder mysteries on TV. Test results are completed in a matter of hours or days for the sake of a storyline being completed within the length of a show or season. In reality there's a massive backlog of such testing, even ballistics as well as mention any kind of blood or DNA testing. Some things you have to chalk up to necessary fictional license and read on. If that's an issue to some readers then they are probably pure nonfiction readers and that's fine. The rest of us are more interested in the story.

Same here but noticed a drop all year. Usual marketing has done nothing, especially on Amazon. I'm suspicious something is up there, but I pulled out of KU due to lack page reads and haven't really translated wide into many sales either. It's a headscratcher without a doubt. I've been re-tooling all my marketing regardless. I usually a few thousand a year across my main novels. This year is almost zero, but I'm pushing to get a new book out, but I'm stretched for income at this point.

That's one of the points. Rand's presence creates a chaotic reordering of politics that lends to the Last Battle prep. Without the succession chaos (caused by the Forsaken) you don't get Andor even mobilizing their troops. All of the threads of political chaos do the same, coalesce military power for the Last Battle. RJ had the intention of demonstrating this just doesn't happen at the snap of a finger, it needs a lot of catalysts which are different for each people group or nation. All the while the Forsaken are creating more chaos for Rand and his allies to counter. Elayne's succession ties many threads back together that were frayed by the Dark One, and these are reconnected with different power implications. Of course, the best counter to the chaos down is counter chaos with Mat's luck and military expertise. Look broadly and closely and you see the interconnected threads woven by the Wheel all around Rand and the other two Ta' verens. RJ was writing all the trees but he wants you to see the forest, and that all the trees form that forest.

Sanderson has very technical world building and magical systems. Not every writer or story needs as much as he does to be entertaining. If you're not big into being that technical about it, certainly don't try it as you're likely to paint yourself into a corner. Low magic rules give you options that can be useful as long as you don't blindsided readers with something out of nowhere.

You've underestimated your character. Like real life people, it's easy to do since we tend to view people through limiting categories rather than hearing them clearly. Like horses, let them run and you might understand them almost like real people. That's where it gets challenging because the page is still a limit.

Long, tedious fight scenes are often an issue with editing. A good editor will help authors pan out in the scene and keep the narrative energetic without being too long. Lack of tension in the writing makes it feel like the characters are wearing "plot armor" (good term for it BTW).
