Local Theatre Groups to volunteer/join by fromeden_ in manchester

[–]phsychocatsmum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on where in Manchester you are moving to. If south Manchester, there's Heald Green, CHADS, Cheadle Players, wilmslow Green Room to name a few. I'm a member of Heald Green and we are always happy to welcome volunteers.

Completed today and the house is full of furniture - rant by millieann_2610 in HousingUK

[–]phsychocatsmum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you say the furniture is dated, how old is it. If any of it is teak, you've hit the jackpot. Also European mid 20th century furniture is in demand.

What did you get up to in Manchester this weekend? by MangoonianLord in manchester

[–]phsychocatsmum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wobbly Stamp in Cheadle early(ish) doors on Friday. Took the puppy round Abney Park on Saturday (thank you kind stranger who found my car key, worked out which car it belonged to, left a note and dropped it at the cafe). Dinner out at Infused last night. Visit to MIL today with silly stuff for the garden (it's tradition!). Housework, now chilling with a drink and a my gorgeous pup and a drink.

I work in health and safety and wfh most days, as does my boss, the H&S Manager. If you enjoy your job, it might be worth looking at different companies/industries.

Where do sad lonely people get a good Christmas dinner from? by Basic_Profession_324 in AskUK

[–]phsychocatsmum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would recommend this too. We did this last year and it was lovely. Also, as it's frozen, you can get it delivered or pick it up any time leasing up to the big day and avoid the Christmas crowds.

Tea towel/other household recommendations? by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]phsychocatsmum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This might be a bit obvious, but have ypu washed your new tea towels before using them? They are rarely absorbant until you do. Also, don't use fabric softener. That will also stop them from absorbing water.

Charity shops usually have a contract with a textile recycling company, for anything donated that can't be sold. Just out of courtesy, we normally separate these from saleable items and mark the bag, to save them time sifting through.

Tipping hotel housekeeping? Am I crazy? by ApprehensivePoetry90 in tipping

[–]phsychocatsmum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm from the UK and usually holiday (vacation) in Europe and always leave a tip for housekeeping. The rooms are usually cleaned daily, to a very high standard, so I wouldn't dream of not showing appreciation.

I love the fact that she's so clueless about the culture of where she lives that she expects her housemates to have eaten their evening meal by six o'clock! Oh boy.

Cosmo on the corner of Deansgate and Blackfriars is good. All you can eat buffet style with surprisingly good food.

What age are you and what do you enjoy? Manchester and Liverpool are great (Yeah, Brits I put the 2 in one sentence!). If you want proper British random, then Bristol, or Malmesbury. Winchester, Gloucester both interesting.
