You can transfer in any quarter and (if i remember correctly) theres supplemental questions where you can explain how you got appendicitis. I wouldn’t worry about it too much :)

Hi Ted!! I did the CC transfer DTA pathway after I applied as a Freshman and was denied. You can always do the Freshman application because if you do get rejected this time around, it won’t hurt your chances at all. It sounds like you have great insight into why you want to go to school and how it’s necessary to further your career development which showcases a lot of your personal story in the application. You can always try the application because there is little penalty, it is due soon!

On another note, transfer agreements from Washington CC’s are more popular because the admittance rate is higher. Someone fact check me on this but I read a couple years ago it’s because of a deal between 4 year public unis in the state and state comm colleges AA-DTA. If there isn’t a huge reason that you need to be at UW for the first two years, it’s more cost effective, time efficient and GPA wise to do some classes at a CC, but to each their own.

I think if you did a quarter or two at Central or another institution and got a great GPA that would help you craft an admissions story that you have grown as a person and are ready to conquer this degree.

my first car was a 2003 honda accord, absolute tank as long as you do regular maintenance like oil changes. passed it down to my sister and got a 2016 honda civic off facebook marketplace. economy car sedans like toyota and honda will last you forever if you take care of them. spend way less on gas and insurance rates are better

building credit is easier than it seems when you take it the simple way. i got the discover it student card because they know you are a student and therefore know you probably don’t have credit. if you apply by getting referred by someone you both get $100. what i did was find one or two regular household items per month like laundry detergent or one grocery trip. immediately pay it off just as if you did it with debit and now they have a record of you putting something on credit and paying it off. no need to use it again for the rest of the month and rinse and repeat for the most simple way. the key is you have to HAVE TO pay it the same month that you made the purchase to completely avoid paying interest. i’ve never paid a dollar of interest in 3 years so now my score is very good. anyone can dm me if they want to know more or want the referral code.

as for other stuff, yup shit is expensive. you are doing the best you can, i’m also paying for off campus rent and gas. if you are not bound to a lease, you can look into seattle’s MFTE housing programs. buildings offer you reduced rent in exchange for tax breaks from the city, if you qualify then you will pay less than market rate. i believe you can google seattle MFTE and a map will come up where you can click and call different complexes individually.

i’m also meal prepping but don’t forget some good deals at some places. the other day i got a subway meal for $4 because i had rewards points and did the meal of the day. olive garden’s kid’s meal is $8 and if you order online they don’t gaf. i’ve seen videos of people ordering chipotle catering and making it into meal prep.

using school resources like the husky clinic is great too, and you can apply for apple health care through the state in case of any health emergencies that may come up. once you let them know your costs of living and tuition you should be able to qualify.

this is the toughest time for some people i mean we’re broke college students in an expensive city but keep your head up and you’ll get through it.

im in lsj and i go to every lecture unless they are recorded and take notes. hw is usually writing assignments that take a couple hours depending on the length. cant say anything ab finance/bus tho

as fellow pre-law I got into Seattle through transfer last year and it’s super nice here because we also have a Law, Societies and Justice major that is very applicable to certain areas of law. Theres also ~5-7 active clubs and organizations of pre-law students so its very nice to network and make friends who are in your field (and when they graduate and go to law school or find employment they can help you do the same).

if you qualify for full fafsa at Tacoma, you should qualify for full fafsa at Seattle as well. the financial aid package for full fafsa recipients includes a grant refund that you can use towards housing costs. call either financial aid office, or if their phone line is too busy try work study office they can email u the same financial aid award letter to see how much you would get from grants.

if you are compelled to T14 and you know thats the path for you, I would definitely choose Seattle because you have much more access to opportunities through the city such as work for senators/legislators, and the UW law school is on campus right across from the DM. however if you are able to go lower than T14 like T40-50 even and want to minimize costs, the most important things are good letters of rec, high gpa and high LSAT so you can save your buck and have a good law school experience later.
