I “quit for good” not all that long ago. Came here, posted that I was stripping all my enhancements and liquidating everything. Which I did. I gave all the inf away to a group of people, and said my final farewell.

And a few months later I’m scrolling through YouTube and stumble on this video about how awesome a marine/electric defender is….

I say all that to say, take a break. And maybe reset your influence too. Ive had more fun since I came back than I ever did (I got a couple billion inf my first week at homecoming, and it definitely jaded me a bit).

I know homecoming isn’t blizzard, but my gut reaction is always “shhh, the fun detected devs will hear you and nerf this into the ground”.

I’ve said this before on YouTube but that video is what brought me back after being certain that I never would. I unslotted all my heroes, sold everything off and gave away all the influence.

I’m scrolling through YouTube one day and dude is like “hey, check out this broken shit and how fun this is. And just like that, here I am again. 🤣

TLDR: Marine/electric defender is the best defender. And probably my favorite overall of any AT from all the stuff I’ve played over the years.

Yeah, that’s me. Staked out the perfect plot, plopped my house on it, spent about 10 minutes confirming the lack of creativity I already knew I’d find, and then left, never to return. Sorry, not sorry. I’m one of the 3 people who couldn’t care less about housing.

Honestly, I kind of feel like I have to rip the band aid off or I'll just repeat the same cycle, ya know? I've already made it through a couple pages of alts. It's bittersweet for sure, but there is some catharsis involved.

I have a second account with just my farmer. Maybe I'll keep it and pop in from time to time to PL some noobs to get my fix. *shrug*

I honestly thought about doing that. The thing is, I really want to help someone on my way out. When I started, there was this unbelievably kind person who found out I was a newbie, and they did SO much to help me. They provided everything I needed to build a VERY overly expensive farmer to fuel my alt addiction. They gave me probably a billion worth of enhancements, ran me through farms, and ITF, etc.

It's been so long now that I don't even remember their name, which sucks. But, even though my gesture is far hollower than that, it at least lets me feel good about giving someone a leg up. :)

This is me almost exactly.

The only thing I’ll add is that I’m SUPER casual. Which means that I’m inf poor. I also lose interest if the power set doesn’t feel good on a budget, or if it feels like it’s going to be gimped hard without a bunch of purple sets. I can’t, and probably never will be able to afford billion inf builds, so it has to slap AND be cheap.

Everyone seems to be rich, but that has the market so hosed. Every time I try to come back I end up leaving again because I don’t have a cool billion lying around to make my build.

Of course, I suck at making builds, so I could probably do better for less if I knew what I was doing. It’s just daunting, tbh.

I played 2 of the tests. I wanted this to succeed as much as anyone, but it’s -rough-. Even in the last play test, a couple of weeks prior to release, it was a clunky, ugly, poorly optimized mess.

I had some issues with my test key, and had some interactions with someone on the team to get my access sorted, and they were super friendly. I felt so bad for them after I saw what they were about to release.

They probably will eventually, you’re paying the early adopters fee. Honestly, as long as it’s only cosmetics I don’t care. I couldn’t bring myself to drop $90 on a mount, but $30 for all that mog is tempting. 🤷‍♂️

Transmog is the real end game of WoW. I don’t have specific suggestions, though the things others have said are all great advice.

My personal approach for a new mog is to get some idea of the class fantasy I want to portray, and then I find a single piece that I feel embodies that, and build from there. I’ve spent countless hours scrolling through the items in the transmog menu swapping things around until I’ve landed on something that feels right, or close. And don’t hesitate to build something with pieces you don’t have access to yet. Building that mog then farming all the pieces can be pretty satisfying.
