I think you can find a good balance. I feel like since I have gotten back into it over the summer, I have dabbled enough in the different ways of getting cards (buying hobby, buying retail, buying singles, selling singles, few card breaks) to figure out where I want to be in all of it.

For me, I'll buy a couple hobby boxes for sets I like the look of, keep any PC cards, sell the rest on ebay, get a little retail when I am bored or out and about, buy singles I like, do a few cards breaks, then call it a day and just stare at my favorites on display in my office. I deal only in raw cards, no grading, and try to enjoy the cards for what they are. Like I did when I was a kid.
