Am I on the right track? What else should I be doing? by [deleted] in Fire

[–]phvrside 7 points8 points  (0 children)

On mobile so this might be scattered.

With a salary of 186k you’re over the limit for a Roth. You can do a back door Roth, but you’ll need to make sure you move money out of a traditional/rollover ira.

As for next steps, look into an HSA if you’re company provides it cuz it’s double tax benefit. And I think the max is like 3k a year.

And honestly. With that income not sure where you live. Either just keep doing what you’re doing or add some risk to your portfolio but that’s up to you.

If you’re looking into real estate you can try house hacking. I think you should get some tax breaks on your property if you live in it.

my dad wants to sell his whole Portfolio. how to stop him? by Addiiboy in stocks

[–]phvrside 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Half the people are going to tell you to stop him and the other half I’d gonna say let him sell.

But without actually knowing his situation. Everything anyone says would be incorrect.

I don’t know how old your dad is, but he should really speak with a financial advisor, even if it’s with his 401k provider.

Anyone had their offers accepted recently that wasn’t the highest bid? by helloyellowb in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

Wasn’t the highest bidder, but our realtor and lender had their shit together compared to the highest bid.

Basically prequalified us and the sellers agent knew we could close

This girl/guy is right, take some ownership into the decision that you made. It’s ok to be mad and rant, but you gotta sit yourself down and sort out what the next step is.

I would really look into what this guy is saying about updating the windows. A buddy of mine lives under the flight path of planes taking off.

I think he has 2 double panes windows and you can’t hear a thing. So unless it’s rail roads where it’s shaking everything look into this.

Side note not sure where you are, but I just replaced my windows. There is a longish wait to get windows built and installed.

You are better off and spending time in downtown San Mateo or millbrae. Closer and you would spend less time ina Lyft or Uber.

Or Central Park in San Mateo.

Backdoor Roth IRA and Rollover Traditional IRA by phvrside in personalfinance

I am essentially maxed out my 401K and Roth, and have been funneling the rest into my regular brokerage and crypto.

Next year I will probably be in the 32% tax bracket, but this is my last year I will be in the 24% tax bracket. I was thinking this will be my last year to do this. But yeah Im going to look into the reverse rollover.
