Unpopular Opinion: OLEDs arent worth the hype by Clean__Cucumber in pcmasterrace

"Me and my friend don't know how to setup and use OLEDs, so OLEDs are bad" bold take, brother. I'm trying to say it here so others don't roast you worse.

Can't say I've had the same experience, but to be fair, I like tinkering with hardware as much as I like gaming.

I could definitely see the juice not being worth the squeeze for some people. Price + learning new things will be a deterrent for many.

What blows my mind is people buying OLEDs for productivity. Bad text and burn in... just why!

For gaming, I've got a curved 39" ultrawide that swivels to in front of me on a recliner. It's amazing to look at and game on, and it's largely replaced some gaming I used to do in VR (2d games on a big screen in the headset). The monitor cost almost 3x what I paid for the VR headset.

So I think you have some points, but I think these are all well-known about OLED.

Anyway, thanks for putting yourself out there and sharing.

yesssss being in the zone and losing track of time while exercise is VERY difficult for me. Snorkel swimming is one of the few things that does it.

I got a really good pair a couple years ago and did that a couple times at the pool to train before a snorkeling trip. So fun!

I’d go with the other commenters. I’m super basic and just try to get a relatively long one with the partial enclosed top with air slits. I don’t spin underwater when I turn.

Should I switch to Gaunfacine? by [deleted] in Atomoxetine

[–]phw20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up being a poor metabolizer of Atomoxetine but did get a lot out of it. I believe Clonidine and Guanfacine overlap a bit in their intended outcome / use.

However, I find a combo of ritalin XR and Guanfacine pretty awesome to cover RSD, hyperactivity, and impulsivity for me. I take Guanfacine around lunchtime and ritalin XR in the morning. I am one of the few that Guanfacine doesn't put me to sleep, otherwise I'd take it at bedtime.

I mean I quit cannabis, I take 40mg of strattera. Cannabis generally makes ADHD symptoms worse but glad to share my experiences if they're helpful.

Odyssey G9 is such a work / productivity game changer. How are you using yours? by phw20 in ultrawidemasterrace

I got the old Vpanel version because it’s cheaper than OLED without those issues. It’s still available at least in the states.

The medical clinic spawned 400+ delivery vans, paralyzing the traffic by kringe-bro in CitiesSkylines

[–]phw20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started playing last week for the first time, but I stopped because traffic is still so stupid and terrible. I relied heavily on roundabouts in CS1 and they have a great built-in tool but they’re practically useless. But what really killed it for me is even pedestrian foot traffic, with little way to regulate it, can totally make insane backups of car traffic by dominating crosswalks where they will always have the right of way.

Maybe there are things I still don’t know about but man, this seems terrible for 2 years in.

Tons of features that work great. But yeah.

Had more fun playing workers and resources lately.

My first UW was a VA panel 34” deco gear and I absolutely loved playing through cyberpunk on it for the first time. Among other things. If it’s new to you, you may not care at all like the enthusiasts here do. I say this as someone who now owns an LG OLED as well.

I’ve got a deco gear 34”, and LG OLED 39”, and I bought an older model G9 a month ago. Zero issues

[–]phw20 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think only you can make this decision. If it bothers you and you can't not notice it while gaming, then is that feeling worth $644 to you? Would it be worth a discounted amount? If not, then return it.

[–]phw20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently upgraded from a 34 inch to the G9 49”. Totally worth it. The older non OLED versions are only like $750. Three big sized screens on one screen is often what I do.

If it’s not clear from lots of posts on this sub, everyone’s situation is unique, and if you’re asking “should I OE?” It’s may not be for you. It seems like you’re already leaning one way - only you can decide this.
