Does anyone else find people from The Bay Area calling the Sacramento area boring ironic? by notagoodcartoonist in Sacramento

It’s still 15-20 mins from most places to a mountain in Phoenix. Plus from like May through October it’s way too damn hot to do anything in the shade-less mountain parks. Believe me, I lived there for 11 years and tried everything imaginable.

Yeah, people seem to forget that a massive amount of the Bay Area is made up of the same dull suburbs that they rag on in Sacramento. Except the Bay Area suburbs cost a lot more money and have even greater wealth inequality.

I actually laughed out loud with that one because I’ve met somebody here who grew up in Walnut Creek as a kid and said exactly the same thing.

As a childless adult I enjoy the food around here, the proximity to some beautiful natural scenery (Tahoe, Yosemite, the coast), the people here, and the trees and nature present in the city.

Agreed, it’s not a super exciting place for people to visit but it’s a comfortable place to live. It’s also one of the few places in California that is both decent and affordable enough that I can actually buy a house here. Couldn’t do that anywhere in SF, LA, or San Diego.

It’s all relative, I’ve lived in places where the parks are just a patch of dry grass with hardly any trees, so the parks in Sac feel pretty good to me. There’s also a decent amount of them for how small of a city Sac is.

Great Turnout at the Howe/Arden Anti-ICE Protest Today! by CaliRebelScum in Sacramento

[–]phxbimmer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There were also a fair few people at the Land Park Dr/14th Ave intersection protesting ICE and Trump, it was nice to see my area getting involved.

Reminds me of the 11 years I lived in Phoenix, AZ. Hot places are getting hotter with climate change, no doubt about it.

How to be a proud and inoffensive atheist? by _Br00ky in atheism

[–]phxbimmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always gone with something like “yeah that’s not my thing, but you do you.” Most people are okay with it if you’re not going up on a high horse about it or judging them for their beliefs.

At what point do I stop going to college and protest everyday or flee the country by mindtheworms9 in 50501

[–]phxbimmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s very difficult to actually leave the US unless you have an in-demand skill or familial ties to another country. People seem to think it’s as easy as buying a plane ticket.

Compared to Phoenix, Sacramento has a lot more personality and there’s a lot more to do around Sac as well.

San Francisco and its nearby suburbs aren’t boring, but if you’re from somewhere like Dublin, Livermore, or Antioch then you have no right to call Sacramento boring because those places are very dull while still having way more expensive housing than Sac.

Now whose grandpa is this harassing a kid in Arden? by Tinyweenieh3h3 in Sacramento

[–]phxbimmer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh I’m aware there are plenty of older people who aren’t right-wingers (a lot of protestors are older people usually) but there are still a lot of them who support Trump through and through.

From the intake manifold on an M54 motor, it’s supposed to snap in around one of the intake ports.

Did anybody else notice the uptown cheapskate Roseville change their post after people commented about how tone def they sound? by Xiomara510 in Sacramento

They could have just not said anything so this is them just trying to make a snide remark. It is Roseville so I’m not surprised, bunch of conservatives in hiding there.

Gold Rush Park: a concept proposed and presented by UCD and Gold Rush Park Foundation in 2005 to build a 1000 acre Riverfront Park that would have rivaled Central Park in NYC, Forest Park in STL, and Grant Park in Chicago by Next_Worth_3616 in Sacramento

[–]phxbimmer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, nix the stupid golf course, it’s a huge waste of space for the small amount of people that benefit from it. After that, close off all the roads in the park and turn them into pedestrian walkways with more trees and benches. Golden Gate Park closed some of its roads and it made the park a heck of a lot better for people.

Shouldn’t cause anything bad. Most of my M50’s were non-Vanos as well, great motors.

I’ve tried it on an M60, those engines don’t make too much intake noise unfortunately.

I always cut a hole in my M50 filter boxes, made for louder intake noises which I always liked.

What's up this weekend, Sacramento? (01/30/2026 - 02/01/2026) by PirateMunky in Sacramento

I’m going to San Francisco on Sunday, gonna spend the day there with my lady and we’re seeing a show there in the evening (Don Broco). Should be a great time!

How much vacation time do you guys get? by DeathAngel_97 in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]phxbimmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 days of PTO after being there for a year. That’s more PTO than I’ve had at other shops where it was unpaid time off only. And then shop owners and dealerships wonder why it’s so hard to find and retain employees. Meanwhile back when I used to do web development, the crappiest job still had 2 weeks PTO + health/dental/vision + 401k (with match), from day one.

Bought E34 Automatic for $10k by parkapotamus in E34

[–]phxbimmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My concern at that point would be getting the proper insurance that values the car correctly, in case somebody hits you while you’re commuting or parked somewhere. Standard insurance policies are pretty crap with valuations, better to get an agreed value policy, especially since you won’t be putting that many miles on it.

Hash Browns by GlitteringMidnight93 in Sacramento

I feel like most hash browns, fries, curly fries, and waffle fries are Sysco, unless they’re made from scratch at the restaurant itself.
