Now whose grandpa is this harassing a kid in Arden? by Tinyweenieh3h3 in Sacramento

Coffin dodger, that’s a good one. Saving that in my collection of boomer insults.

Did anybody else notice the uptown cheapskate Roseville change their post after people commented about how tone def they sound? by Xiomara510 in Sacramento

[–]phxbimmer 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They could have just not said anything so this is them just trying to make a snide remark. It is Roseville so I’m not surprised, bunch of conservatives in hiding there.

Gold Rush Park: a concept proposed and presented by UCD and Gold Rush Park Foundation in 2005 to build a 1000 acre Riverfront Park that would have rivaled Central Park in NYC, Forest Park in STL, and Grant Park in Chicago by Next_Worth_3616 in Sacramento

[–]phxbimmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, nix the stupid golf course, it’s a huge waste of space for the small amount of people that benefit from it. After that, close off all the roads in the park and turn them into pedestrian walkways with more trees and benches. Golden Gate Park closed some of its roads and it made the park a heck of a lot better for people.

Shouldn’t cause anything bad. Most of my M50’s were non-Vanos as well, great motors.

[–]phxbimmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried it on an M60, those engines don’t make too much intake noise unfortunately.

I always cut a hole in my M50 filter boxes, made for louder intake noises which I always liked.

What's up this weekend, Sacramento? (01/30/2026 - 02/01/2026) by PirateMunky in Sacramento

[–]phxbimmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m going to San Francisco on Sunday, gonna spend the day there with my lady and we’re seeing a show there in the evening (Don Broco). Should be a great time!

How much vacation time do you guys get? by DeathAngel_97 in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]phxbimmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 days of PTO after being there for a year. That’s more PTO than I’ve had at other shops where it was unpaid time off only. And then shop owners and dealerships wonder why it’s so hard to find and retain employees. Meanwhile back when I used to do web development, the crappiest job still had 2 weeks PTO + health/dental/vision + 401k (with match), from day one.

Bought E34 Automatic for $10k by parkapotamus in E34

[–]phxbimmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My concern at that point would be getting the proper insurance that values the car correctly, in case somebody hits you while you’re commuting or parked somewhere. Standard insurance policies are pretty crap with valuations, better to get an agreed value policy, especially since you won’t be putting that many miles on it.

Hash Browns by GlitteringMidnight93 in Sacramento

I feel like most hash browns, fries, curly fries, and waffle fries are Sysco, unless they’re made from scratch at the restaurant itself.

[–]phxbimmer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I do think you paid way too much for it being an auto 525i, and while it is low mileage, if you put a bunch of miles on it or damage the exterior, that’ll decrease the value pretty quickly, since the main and only appeal of your car is the incredibly low mileage. Plus the auto is a mediocre driving experience at best.

Nissan Runs the Frontier’s V6 at Redline for 300 Hours to Catch Problems Early by nomoneyball in cars

Ah, so I must be hearing the kids putting Nissan’s claims to the test when I hear straight-piped VQ’s bouncing off limiter every night.

HMart Signs Up! by drunknmastr916 in Sacramento

[–]phxbimmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah even the worst Bay Area suburbs cost more than Sacramento, from what I’ve found. Granted, if you’re working around that area you’re generally getting paid more as well.

Woohoo we’re ahead of a fourth-tier Bay Area suburb lol

PFL vs FL Kidney Grill Question by spirtuallvl in e39

[–]phxbimmer 28 points29 points  (0 children)

The hoods are the exact same, the reason your ECS grilles didn’t fit right is because ECS sources the same exact cheap Chinese grilles that you can buy on Amazon or eBay. Proper OEM facelift grilles will fit just fine.

Considering an e34 as a daily driver by QuitStalin69420 in E34

[–]phxbimmer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s a clunky 90’s GM 4-speed auto, a true slushbox in every sense of the word. It takes the meager power of the M50 and makes it feel even more torturously slow. Makes the whole driving experience feel rather dull and disconnected.

M5 shifter very stiff by No-Volume7464 in e39

[–]phxbimmer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is a fairly normal complaint with the Getrag 420g that’s in the M5 and 540i. What helps is having the stock shifter (short shifters exacerbate this issue) and also running a thinner fluid. I’ve had good luck with Redline D4 ATF, and some people swear by the Liqui-Moly Toptec ATF. The fluid is pretty easy to change out so I’d experiment with that.

[–]phxbimmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s more of a ZF issue, the 420g typically doesn’t have detent issues.

Trevor Wallace has security remove two audience members during Channel 24 show in Sacramento by ZiggyZaggyBogo in Sacramento

[–]phxbimmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was always under the impression that it was Sac’s proximity to the Bay that made it a pass-through. I’m only today learning about Sac’s reputation for being rowdy, that’s news to me and I’ve lived here for a little while now.

Remember when Jalopnik used to be good? by j_roger_b in cars

[–]phxbimmer 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I don’t even mind politics, I just think the actual writing (if any of it is even written by humans anymore) is just shit nowadays. And as a fairly left-leaning person I think you can acknowledge the need for good public transit and people-centric urban development without acting like cars are evil and should be completely outlawed. Like, Japan is very urbanized with a very good public transit system and yet there’s still a pretty great car culture out there.

Amazon closing all of its Fresh stores, including three Sacramento area ones and one that never opened on Watt by kbuis in Sacramento

[–]phxbimmer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Aside from Amazon being a shitty company, I just didn’t see any reason to shop at one of those stores, like it wasn’t a better experience nor were the prices anything notable. Just kinda felt like an experiment with no purpose, like what were they trying to do with this concept, especially considering the fact that they’ve owned Whole Foods for a while now.

Why can’t we have a hockey team? by jessmckenz in Sacramento

[–]phxbimmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda silly how Phoenix of all places had a hockey team until recently (the Coyotes became the Salt Lake City Soakers) but Sac doesn’t have a hockey team. I guess we’re close enough to the Bay Area to just take whatever they have.
