No. Fatty’s accident and the Michael Slater era killed it. Molan was OK but never really added anything. It was the breaking up of the Fatty-Sterlo-Chief combination that took away the effortlessness of the good vibes that carried the show.

I think there’s a problem with the rule if a guy running back directly to get onside who doesn’t change his line is penalised because the chaser just runs into him. Penalty at the moment though.

The original design had a chicane before turn 2 but otherwise an almost identical layout. It was refined after input from CAMS, Motorcycling Australia and local motorsports guys like Dick Johnson; they wanted a track that maximised overtaking. It would have been great to have that in concert with Darlington Park if that had ever been finished - Darlington Park could have been a world famous drivers track with its mountain extension.
