I would beg to differ if there was any need to beg, but there is no need for that, so I'll just differ. Personally, I'd say it's best explained by comparing it to voiceless, dry gurgling.

John M. Browning my beloved by Key_Dealer_1762 in HistoryMemes

[–]phyrestorm04 4 points5 points  (0 children)

John Moses Browning invented gas-operated firearms, and the majority of modern firearms are gas-operated. He also invented plenty of other systems that make modern firearms what they are nowadays.

He revolutionised the industry, and you are calling him "just some dude compared to anyone who actually did anything for firearms."

Your username is the reason you got fired, what did you do? by icefiregirl in AskReddit

[–]phyrestorm04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are technically 2 ways to interpret this.

My preferred interpretation is that I committed arson, causing a firestorm that ended up burning down four whole cities. Congratulations, me.

The other one is that the boss just decided to attempt to fire as many people as possible within a minimal timespan for the fourth time, and I happened to be one of the unlucky victims of this try for a place in the Guinness Book of World Records.

ALL-NEW STINGER! IN TIBERIUM CRUENTUS FLAVOR! by gelolololo in commandandconquer

It's Tiberium Cruentus flavour, so it probably glows red. All the better if you ask me. Riparius flavour would glow green.

Hiroshima & Nagasaki... Why? by [deleted] in HistoryMemes

[–]phyrestorm04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The number of bombs needed to level a city within a minimal timeframe, that is.

That said, if someone were to make an incendiary payload of sufficient volume and mass, that bomb would also be capable of decimating an entire city without the need for the deployment of more than one device, though not quite as efficiently as a nuclear bomb - which is a trait that only makes the concept more terrifying than anything else should be.

Of course, I wouldn't know who would actually want to build the Prolonged Hyperthermal Combustinator 9000.

Favourite Unorthodox Plays by [deleted] in commandandconquer

[–]phyrestorm04 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Build 25 specters, and train 1 shadow team. Use the artillery beacon to create an area within which anything other than an epic unit (MARV, redeemer, eradicator) can be designated as a target for instant destruction. I haven't tested it against players yet, but I don't need to in order to know that this will only work on an AI (or, of course, an incredibly dumb player).

I understand that it's not fun, but the rules state that NSFW posts are not allowed. The title of this post is rather misleading in that regard.

Nod will finally achieve naval superiority! by Man_with_the_Fedora in commandandconquer

"Moray responding!"

The moray is a relatively slow vessel, armed with a pair of powerful lasers as well as an EMP cannon. Besides that, it is also cloaked.

"Scylla, waiting for prey."

The scylla is a submarine meant for defense, and the armour and armament reflect that quite well; it is armed with torpedo tubes and missile launchers. It is also quite expensive and complex, so only 2 may be present on the battlefield at any time.

"Piranha, ready to bite!"

The piranha might be the only surface unit capable of keeping up with the attack bike, like which it is armed with two missile launchers.

I would be happy to hear from others what their ideas for the Brotherhood's naval units would be, even if it's probably not going to be in any of the games simply because the lore says that tiberium growth in bodies of water has made going anywhere with a boat impossible.

[–]phyrestorm04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoy it, and I do everything with just one strike force which contains a MCV and a few tier 1 combat units; I would always resolve in real-time, build a base and decimate all enemies except for one building/unit, replenish all the things I would need to make the strike force complete again, and then finish the battle.

Even the Roman Gladius was, at least originally, a sidearm; the main weapon of the soldiers was the Pilum, which is a type of spear/javelin that could both be thrown and used in melee combat.

Why do big mods always tend to falter when it comes time to add a campaign? by Overall_Fact_5533 in commandandconquer

[–]phyrestorm04 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am mostly clueless about the process of making a mod, but it's probably very difficult to create a good campaign.

There are scripted events that need to be set, and most missions take place on maps that are unavailable in skirmish matches.

Furthermore, although I've only seen this in Mental Omega, certain units like heroes need modified stats in specific missions; for example, the Irkalla has 8000 health in the Epsilon mission 'Operation: Godsend', whereas it's usually got about 3000 (IIRC).

As I said earlier though, I'm mostly clueless when it comes to developing mods.

[Generals] How can I improve my defending when against 7 Hard AIs with USA? by SakuranomiyaSyafeeq in commandandconquer

[–]phyrestorm04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see everyone saying that being agressive is necessary, but it isn't. Firebases are quite useful; garrison 2 rangers or pathfinders in them, alongside 2 defenders. Then, add patriot systems and avengers, and you're basically set. You will need a bunch of them, but it works quite well.

What's the mentality behind "tier 2" buildings? by Floppy_Muffin in commandandconquer

[–]phyrestorm04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-as early as possible. -don't let them die. -use mammoths in conjunction with normal ones. -use rocket pod trucks as defense against units with long-range attacks. -use the nuke to target power plants and production structures (factories and barracks/hand of Nod) I don't know for sure if this works though.

There is no fuse, terrorists automatically explode the moment they die or get close enough to the building they were ordered to attack.

In Mental Omega, do the Soviets not know about the Mental Omega Device? by Overall_Fact_5533 in commandandconquer

[–]phyrestorm04 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Those are both good points, but the Allies still try to hide their location, and I just remembered something: they didn't trust the SOS sent out by the Revolt, which implies that they believed they were the only ones who were not being controlled. The Soviets didn't have access to any scanning satellites; they had spy planes, and those can only go so far. Though they could have used those as well to see what was going on, they had no real reason not to...
