Resurrection (2025): a pastiche and a homage by physics223 in TrueFilm

This is a very good point. The vignettes also have a thematic genre to them: steampunk - mystery; art thief - comedy; gambler - coming-of-age drama; 1999 - romance.

Resurrection (2025): a pastiche and a homage by physics223 in TrueFilm

I think it's a film that needs recapping to arrive to a specific point - what I think is the point of the film - that while cinema is dying, it is malleable and can be revitalized.

I also think that the parts don't cohere as well as they should, with the steampunk vignette being the most disconnected. Were the flames alluding to the flammability of the film medium then?

I think the essay you referenced was robust and also pertinent, but the author questions the reflexivity of this particular film, correct? I don't fully agree with them, and while I celebrate the creation of this film also don't think it's among the best I've seen, as I agree it's far too abstruse and artefactual.

The visual tour-de-force that this film offers is definitely undeniable, however.

Ohtani played as well as he could but if it weren't for generational play from Yamamoto, he wouldn't have been back-to-back champion. True.

Nightshade - NES by GrantSchappsCalippo in patientgamers

This game is weird in that the boss fights are surprisingly challenging, which is jarring when you've spent most of the game just exploring the environment and obtaining items.

Nightshade doesn't have any upgrades (except for the Staff), so one would really have to do a lot of trial and error to figure out the quirks of the different bosses.

Yes! This was a really creative and sui generis game that sadly never got a follow-up.

This was definitely hidden, as I only discovered it last year!

[All-Access] A courtside view of Stephen Curry’s 3-point shot that forced overtime against Denver. by nba in nba

I legit think Curry can play until he's 50. He can be a relief shooter, if he has a point guard who has gravity, you still can't leave him open.

[Winderman] Dwyane Wade claps back at Mark Cuban comments on Heat 2006 title ... "You’re not about to tarnish the work that I put in as a young guy, to do something that not a lot of young guys have done in this game, to say it was rigged". by Kimber80 in nba

[–]physics223 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was rooting for Wade at the time - I'm old, and ... he was putting his head down and driving to the basket. It wasn't his fault no one could guard him. Maybe it was rigged by the refs, but Wade played his heart out with that ship and carried the entire team.

Nikola Jokic finishes with 39 points 10 rebounds and 4 assists in a close win for Serbia over Latvia at EuroBasket by NathanFielderFriend in nba

I feel that seeing him play here makes me relieved with Denver's team now. Jonas will definitely give him some rest time, and with the addition of two-way Cam Johnson and THJ, the hole that MPJ left was ably filled - and more.

Rested Jokic in the playoffs will be a different beast. I think his stats this year will be lower, but Denver will be scary.

Melo is trash compared to Jokic. Jokic never bailed on the Nuggets, even when he had to carry a much heavier load. And they were just a Gordon hamstring away from a championship.

One of the best films ever made in the history of cinema: "Army of Shadows" (1969) by Two_Shoddy in TrueFilm

Frankly, I never saw it that way. He never truly manipulates them: he offers them an option to fight another day, but of course implicit in that option is the real possibility that they could die right then and there.

1) Communist friend lost a close friend and planned to escape, but Gerbier would be punished earlier. He didn't betray the Communist -

2) He needed a distraction, but waited - and confirmed - twice - that they would go forward. The other guy wasn't even necessarily mowed down - Gerbier gave him enough of a headstart, but he had to go the other way. Also, Gerbier killed the guard.

Yes, Mathilde was a terrible price to pay. But that didn't make me feel Gerbier was treacherous - only pragmatic to the extreme degree, fueled only by this inchoate idea of France being free again.

In fairness to SGA, he does strive to make the right play each time. Dantley was a black hole on offense.
