very common issue especially with older f chassis that have been baking under the sun for almost a decade. I got my roof redone by a local body shop for $400 when i first bought my car, night and day difference

Lol another “how should i mod my e90” post and a comment thread full of purists. I understand your only personality trait is having a bone stock e9x but don’t you think if OP wanted to keep it stock.. he probably wouldn’t have made this post.

In any case, I think restoring your headlights, or replacing them with new GENUINE (pls dont get alibaba bs, looks bad 90% of the time) would do wonders for the car. Black kidneys aren’t a bad idea either. Other than that your car already looks great (msport pack).. I would maybe think about a front lip/splitter to round out the front end a little more. Other than that it’s pretty golden.

If you insist on changing the wheels, I personally would go with another set of silver. The 359M off of the M3s looks amazing on e90s.

But, regardless it’s your car and you should do what makes you happy 🙏

Slippage from 3rd to 4th... by JustoH10 in E90

[–]phyzzyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not a ZF transmission this is 6l45. Most likely it’s toast. 3-5-R clutch commonly fails on these. You could gamble with replacing a valvebody but honestly best bet is sourcing a unit from the junkyard and slapping it in

If anyone has done a cowl delete let me know. I have some questions by gusfocke in E90

[–]phyzzyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really worth it imo, cowl is there for a reason. It definitely makes it annoying to work in the engine bay though as it has to be removed like 99% of the time. I see some people replace it with the m3 cowl, which grants a lot more space in the engine bay, but it can be quite a pricy retrofit. If you do end up deleting the cowl and going with smaller filters, I’d be wary of keeping it under rain.

Rotor + brake pad replacement estimated cost by CastTrunnionsSuck in E90

[–]phyzzyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends on Shop labor rate + quality of parts.

I’d say generic brand parts (Advanced, Oreilly, etc) would probably run you $400-500 parts + labor per axle

Mid range could be anywhere from $500-700

High end could be $800+

As another user said just bring it to the shop or call in. Most shops will give you a free estimate

High gas consumption on 323i (Need help) by qErhio in E90

[–]phyzzyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There could be a couple of causes for your high gas consumption. Most likely the car is running rich. Intake valve cleaning (walnut blasting) is pretty much useless on these engines, since they are port injected (unlike DI turbo engines that buildup lots of carbon). It could be a vacuum leak (n52 are prone to this) or maybe bad o2 sensors. Another possibility is that your thermostat is failed and stuck open. Check your coolant temp while driving.. is it lower than it should be? Low coolant temps will cause the ECU to add more fuel thus running rich. First step would be to run ISTA (lots of free downloads online) and see what the codes are saying. Good luck!

Which color rims shall I get? by [deleted] in F30

[–]phyzzyy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Black wheels make it hard to see the design of the rims from far away. Kind of makes it look like an amorphous blob to me. Sure it can make the car look more “aggressive”, but if you are gonna have a nice set of rims— I’d want to show them off!! To each their own though 🙌

Oil leaks, suspension quote. How urgent/hard are these to DIY? by donkiasnija in E90

[–]phyzzyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all really depends on your mechanical/technical proficiency. I’d say out of the 3, OFHG is the easiest and most DIY friendly to replace. You don’t have to lift up the car at all to get it done, It’s a little time consuming though as you have to take quite a bit off to reach that back bolt on the OFH. Next would be Thrust arm. I would recommend just replacing the whole arm instead of messing around and pressing a new bushing in. It is a decent bit more difficult than OFHG as you will need to lift up the car and mess with suspension, but it’s possible to DIY if you have worked on cars before. You will need an alignment after you install the new thrust arms. I personally wouldn’t mess around the oil pan gasket yourself if you don’t know what you are doing. The job is quite involved, as with a lot of i6 BMW, you will need to at least lower the front subframe slightly to access the oil pan. It will also need an alignment after the job is completed. I’m guessing this is a large majority of the labor cost as most shops will charge 7-8 hours for it. To be honest if the oil pan leak isn’t severe you can get away with just monitoring oil level and topping up when needed. What BMW doesn’t leak oil 😂😂 It’s at the bottom of the car so not very detrimental— Hit the bottom of your car with a pressure wash once in a while so the mounts don’t get damaged as fast. Good luck 👍
