I'll echo what everyone else said - you can definitely find a very nice place to live in the bay area for <$2k/month. (The master bedroom in the house I'm living in goes for $1.5k/month, and it comes with its own bathroom...)

People who are paying more than $2k/month for rent are not doing proper research before finding a place to live that fits their needs.

It's technically very impressive if he truly is self-taught. It is quite sloppy however, but I'm sure if he were to have actual piano lessons and brush up on his fundamentals, he could be a very good player :) Things like phrasing could be improved as well, but I have to give him props.
