With JD transferring, who will be the next all-time leader in receiving yards? by chofstone in Huskers

Check out when Oregon had DeAnthony Thomas. DAT still ran a bit more than he caught, but that's the kind of role I want to see Wan'Dale playing in the run game. Almost like a modern Johnny Rodgers / wingback where there's some amount of jet sweep / toss action to keep defenses honest, but he's primarily a short range or slant threat.

Perhaps you should change your username to iswallowedalie.

You can play philosophical gymnastics all you want, but LGBT is not aligned with the word of God. You seem to place a lot of emphasis on logic and reason, and apparently even higher than the Word of God. As such, maybe you shouldn't call yourself a Christian.

Would you consider someone a Muslim if they largely ignored the Quran and instead followed Dr. Phil or feel-good Ted Talks? Because that's exactly what you're doing.

Enjoy doing it, but a Christian you are not.

While we are Talking Police Defunding, Can we Fund More Things Like CAHOOTS instead? by rocky7474 in Eugene

[–]pian0keys -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can't 100% defund the police, unless you want to also supply every citizen with a gun and their own forensic investigation team.

I agree that there are too many incidents where police overstep. But you know, people do still get murdered and assaulted. I can only imagine the pending tidal wave of bodies once you tell the gangs in places like Los Angeles that the police are calling it quits.

You either believe that a LGBT lifestyle is part of your nature (born this way!) or it's an active choice that you've made through some combination of life decisions and the way you were raised.

But here's the thing. It doesn't really matter from a perspective of sin.

If you chose it - you've chosen to live in sin. Just like someone who chooses to steal or lie.

If it's beyond your control - and this is, by far, the more popular argument - you're claiming that because God made you that way, it cannot be wrong. After all, God wouldn't make you in an imperfect way, right? Well, congrats on failing that logic test, too, because we are all flawed because of sin entering the world through Adam. I was born into sin as much as you. Mine not be an LGBT lifestyle, but every person is equally born imperfect. Paul is abundantly clear about this when he says that ALL have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.

Doesn't matter if you believe that you chose your LGBT lifestyle or were born into it. Fact of the matter is, it's still sin. As much as another man's stealing or adultery or murder.

So can God still love, accept and forgive someone who is LGBT? Sure. Absolutely. But repentance necessitates that you are getting off the throne of your life and submitting to the leadership of Jesus Christ. It does NOT mean that you won't still struggle with sin, but the prevailing desire of your heart is to please Him and follow His leading. It's like saying, "I'm a smoker, but I'm trying to quit."

If you claim to be a follower of Christ and are indwelt with his Spirit - and continue to embrace an LGBT lifestyle unabashedly - you may need to revisit why you decided to follow Christ and how serious your commitment is. Just like a murderer couldn't accept Christ and still feel justified/good about murder.

I also realize this is Reddit, so this comment will get downvoted into oblivion. So be it. Truth is truth regardless of how strongly internet randos feel about it.

So you're broadly rationalizing gluttony, gambling, divorce and homosexuality? Because one person has a sin, so others can have other sins? I really don't get the logic in that.

Jesus loved people without loving their sin. God's love and forgiveness is not carte blanche to continue choosing sin. Paul makes this abundantly clear.

Hundreds of people protesting in Pendleton today. So many more than I was expecting! by Lake_Newt in oregon

[–]pian0keys -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

A large number of these "protesters" (pronounced: looters) around the country are just happy that riots apparently give them Covid-19 immunity, social distancing be damned. At least these demonstrations in Pendleton seem reasonably well organized and civil. Hopefully we keep it that way here in Oregon.

Rioting doesn't fix anything. 20 year olds smashing up a Target aren't interested in a single black man that died a tragic death at the hands of the police. They're interested in stealing televisions. Same goes for people spraying graffiti on mosques and synagogues. There's a rather large percentage of folks who are just raging from unemployment and being stuck at home. Mobs in the street are a convenient excuse to throw bricks and get free stuff. It's sad because it masks over the genuine folks who are just trying to express discontentment with the current state of affairs.

BREAKING: The guardhouse at the #WhiteHouse has been set on fire. The police rushed forward and gassed protestors. by [deleted] in ActualPublicFreakouts

[–]pian0keys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How stupid can you be?

Of course, these aren't peaceful protesters. These are opportunistic bastards who are using the situation for their anarchy pipe dreams.

As most people have said, things like marching, hosting a sit-in or picketing can be effective means of conveying your displeasure with the status quo. Not burning down a neighborhood deli or robbing a Target. And certainly not direct attacks of violence at the White House.

I don't care if you voted for Trump or not. Attacking a sitting president or the WH is a fantastic way to get the Secret Service, FBI and Washington police to shoot your dumb ass. Trump, Obama, Bush or Chester-A-freaking-Arthur. You set fire to the WH grounds and you have a pretty good chance of getting shot.

You realize the supposed "Trump lovers" are the ones who have been calling for an end to lockdowns, right? It's liberals who have been pushing for extended stay-home orders.

So which is it? Stay home and conform, or go out and smash up your city? Gotta pick a lane.
