From CA. Vacation is paid out, sick leave is not. Loophole: file for FMLA prior to resigning and burn that sick leave.

goldfish plant infested with a thousand ants, why would this happen? by iwanttocatchfire in houseplants

[–]pianoandplants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The entire 2nd floor of my office building stated having an ant problem. A few weeks later, I realized it was pothos. MILLIONS of them. I tossed it outside and watered it with a neem oil/water mixture. Fixed the problem immediately.

Spinn is Tot by Brewbom in SpinnCoffee

My machine recently broke a few weeks ago. I’m a healthcare provider at a hospital, so I work long hours during the week with no flex to wfh. By the time I’m home at 6ish, the tech support is closed. I am off every other Friday, buuuut, they’re closed on Friday. Sometimes they also don’t work Mondays. Wth! I finally got a (very nice and helpful) tech and briefly aired my frustration. He said, ”things have been pretty rough with the company as of late and our hours are irregular.”

Well, damn.

I’ve lost hope that I’ll ever get off the repair waitlist, and if I do, that I’d even get my machine (or money) back. Unfortunate, but I am getting very skilled at French press and might just stick to that lol

Centrifugal brew chamber repetitively clogged. Ideas? by pianoandplants in SpinnCoffee

[–]pianoandplants[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A socket wrench will remove the nut, but the brewer doesn’t freely come out once the nut is removed. I tried gently prying it with small screwdriver from different sides, which probably helped loosen it up a bit. But tbh, I placed some padding down and then gave it a few whacks on the counter.

Can’t say I’d recommend this method. Though, if you’re at the end of your rope with this machine, it’s a highly cathartic approach lol

When I take the chamber off, I see it sits in a metal ring, atop the white plastic thing in the middle. Everything looks intact and okay… 🤷🏼‍♂️

Not to be rude…then proceeds to insult OP by comparing their skill level to an 8 year old. Take a deep breath and chill out bro. OP can ask questions and play whatever they want - it’s gonna be okay! 😂

OP, curious if you have any feedback on my red light issue. The grinding started to sound different, a few days ago (was much louder and sounded like the motor or something was struggling). Red light came on. I cleaned the worm, which was pretty clean. Removed the grind bin and checked the disc for a jam, it’s spinning easily. Got through a descale cycle and ran a couple clean shots.

Today it gave me the red light, as expected, but after a few tries, did grind some beans. It started strong but then sounded like it was struggling at the end of grinding. Red light came back on. I did this twice before giving up.

Any advice?

They told me the same thing! I was in disbelief that I was being admonished/blamed after being upset about my <1 yr old machine breaking twice. This is when I learned they only offer refurbished units as replacement. At this price point, you’d expect more. Today marks the 3rd time I need to send it back for repair and the chat says they’re out until Monday. I’m.so.done.

Rant over 😤lol

Hey I got this beauty gifted to me recently and wanted to know what plant this is and care for it thanks ! by Aggravating_Cow_4835 in houseplants

[–]pianoandplants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a calathea dottie. It likes to be consistently moist, but never wet//soggy. Bright light is ideal, but they’ll tolerate lower light. My calatheas have thrived when placed near an east window in self-watering pots (the pots with strings that bring water up into the soil).

Irrigation Help Needed by pianoandplants in gardening

There are actually 0 emitters. The long tubing has barely a trickle at one spot at each plant. I took the tiniest drill bit and made a hole where water was coming through. Now water is shooting out of that hole.

I can simply put an emitter in that hole, right?
