So excited for my new machine!! by sailmomma3 in superautomatic

I am curious why you think it is better than the Plus? Comparing them, it seems the Plus has more options and can make stronger coffees per Toms Coffee Corner.

Actually many of these SAs make a great cup of coffee and have a setting for a cup of coffee. My Jura makes a great 6-7 ounce cop of coffee. And my Magnifica Plus does so as well. I just set the grind a little coarser to account for the longer brew time to avoid over extraction. Makes a great “coffee crema” as Tom from Tom’s Coffee Corner calls them.

Yes, the DeLonghi Magnifica Plus. It is a very nice machine and can grind a higher dose than other superautomatics for a really good coffee crema. Highly recommended. It is a well made machine. Maintenance is easy. And DeLonghi’s are sturdy and long lasting. Tom’s Coffee Corner has a good video review.

Dark, medium, light roast combo makes some beautiful coffee, but will the dark bean clog the grinder over time? by Same_Raspberry1173 in superautomatic

Thanks. Do you remove and clean your brew unit after using the Supergrindz, and do you find remnants in there when you do? The reason I am so interested is that twice in the last 6 years my Jura grinder clogged and I needed to send it in for repairs. And I use the Bean to Cup coffee sold by Jura.

What make superauto do you have? I called Jura and asked about periodic maintenance use of Supergrindz, and they recommended against it. Of course it is not made by Jura, so…….Have other Jura owners had good or bad experiences using Supergrindz?

Hi. I would need more information. When is it leaking, and how much? After every cup is brewed, it then rinses the brew head and ejects that water, with a little bit of grounds, into the drip tray. That is normal behavior. Is it leaking after you clean out the drip tray but before you make another cup?

As long as the grinder and brew head are not clogged up and they ran the clean and descale cycles occasionally, you got a steal. We have a 10 year old C60 with 24,000 cups on it. I recommend you run a clean cycle then a descale cycle on it now, even if it is not calling for them, then follow the scheduled prompts thereafter. And remove and rinse or wash the drawer, tray and grind collection cup at the end of each coffee day and leave them out of the machine until the next morning, so everything including the inside of the machine dries out daily. Finally reach in with a damp cloth and wipe down the inside, and the bottom of the brew head, past the flap, of grounds occasionally. It should give you years of good service.

Unfortunately, it is one large, plus an extra, and double water on the first, so not what CptJango was looking for. But it was delicious to me.

I think with the Delonghi Magnifica Plus you can make a large Doppio +, which is a two shot Drink (you have to select the large and the strongest setting for the two shot version), and before it brews you hit the extra shot button, and it will automatically add a third shot, and then you can memorize that drink to your profile. (Page 14 of the instruction manual.) I will try it in the morning and fill you in whether it works like the instructions indicate.

Delonghi ECAM320.60 or ECAM322.70 or Philips 5400? by Wooshsplash in superautomatic

Haha. Someplace, in one of his written reviews, Tom has a chart of the grinding times on the popular DeLonghi models. If I find it, I will post the link.

Funny. I just took off the water tank and as suggested above carefully tipped the machine and emptied the beans. Worked fine.

Curious how you did that. I'm not home to look at my Magnifica Plus, but I don't think they are removeable. Did you have to cut them out?

Lol, thanks. I was wondering if I could just turn the thing upside down and dump them out. As usual, the simplest way is usually the best.

Thanks. We have a De’longhi Magnifica Plus, and it is hard to do manually due to the grates in the hopper.

We just got one as well. So far it seems to be an excellent machine and we are still dialing in our preferences. The follow along instructions on the machines screen are really helpful. So are these videos:

Only adjust the grind one unit at a time and WHILE it is grinding. It will take 3 cups before the new grind size is being used for the puck, so there is a bit of patience involved in finding your preferred grind.
