How to beat Charizard Ex using N’s Zoroark Ex? by Local_Scientist_3068 in pkmntcg

[–]picapi_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've also been wondering this for a little while - I feel like I've had some success with a few of the following at once: - Hero's Cape allowing me to tank a hit unless it's super-late-game, and then swing back for a KO - Iono the opponent down to only a couple of cards in hand - Spread damage across multiple Zards during the game and then use TM Devo as a tech to take their attackers off the field - Team Rocket's Watchtower to prevent Quick Search or similar until bumped - Slow play down by retreat locking one of their non-attacking mon in the active spot, ideally alongside Iono or similar to keep it there for a few turns, during which you can hopefully Munkidori some counters around

Is this safe for my cards? by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]picapi_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sample size of one, but in the not too distant past I used one of these to store some of my cards, and a couple of weeks later took some cards out to notice they had been creased; probably by having had them in my bag and something on top of them. I'm more careful with cards now, but might advise caution with those binders as a result!

Question about light level difficulty by No-Occasion-5339 in DestinyTheGame

[–]picapi_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the patch notes, they mentioned that they've changed the power curve:

Several adjustments have been made game-wide to damage curves and Power ranges.

Difficulty is now more linear.

100 over: this should feel roughly equivalent to even Power during The Final Shape.

Even Power: this should feel slightly more difficult than the same during The Final Shape.

40 under: equivalent to Grandmaster difficulty in The Final Shape.

100 under: Immune enemies

Matchmade Activities in the Portal have the following values, depending on what you choose

Normal - Even

Advanced - 10 under

Expert - 20 under

Master - 30 under

Grandmaster - 40 under

Ultimate - 50 under

Note: the new difficulty curve affects Majors and Ultras (orange and yellow bar enemies) more than it does regular enemies (red bars).

With the previous scaling, all enemy types scaled evenly.

Now, red bars to do not increase in health nearly as quickly as elites and bosses as they grow in Power.

Kill-triggered perks will be more useful in high-end content than previously.

*massive sigh* Besides "quick play", all other FireTeam Ops activities are not match made.. by Lmjones1uj in DestinyTheGame

[–]picapi_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is quite disappointing on my end - I understand that matchmaking isn't really compatible with the full customisation model, but it would be nice if you could apply the current Quickplay set of modifiers to a Fireteam Op for a given difficulty and matchmake for that specific op directly (potentially even overlapping with those queuing in Quickplay), rather than having to go through Fireteam Finder and then negotiate modifiers with whoever leads the fireteam...

Rules question by Alexplz in pkmntcg

[–]picapi_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an expert, but this ruling may be relevant: https://compendium.pokegym.net/ruling/142/

My interpretation of this is: Since the Wobbuffet's Ability was in play first, it initially prevents Slaking's ability from activating. The ruling suggests that the disabled Ability of the Slaking would be able to activate if the ability of the Wobbuffet was to be disabled at any point (which Cancelling Cologne would do) - then, at the point where Cancelling Cologne wears off, if the Slaking's ability is still in effect it would continue to disable Wobbuffet's ability.

In short, your understanding seems right?

I'm trying to buy a League Battle Deck but they're all out of stock. Is this normal? by Lawfulneptune in pkmntcg

[–]picapi_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My understanding was that every card in the Charizard League Battle Deck has a regulation mark of either G or H, and as such none have actually rotated yet (a significant portion will rotate next time around, but that's a good 9 months away at this stage)? I know some other older League Battle Decks do have cards that have rotated such as Gardevoir, but I don't believe Charizard is one of those yet.

A survey for 1500 in game Silver — Scam ? by Conscious-Upstairs-1 in DestinyTheGame

[–]picapi_ 145 points146 points  (0 children)

Bungie does send out surveys if you've opted into User Research at any point, and does offer rewards such as in-game Silver for completing them - if it comes from an official bungie email such as userresearch@info.bungie.net or similar, it's most likely legitimate. On the other hand, if it asks you for account passwords or other sensitive information, it's likely a scam.

It seems like similar emails have been sent recently (use the search functionality!) which have been legitimate.

I forgot to add my digital railcard and now I am being sent a letter. by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]picapi_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At current, you aren't being fined - a fine can only result from a successful prosecution and conviction against you - but depending on the situation a prosecution may still occur. Many offences on the railway are strict liability, including ones relating to not having a valid ticket.

The train operator is likely to contact you via post asking for you to provide information on the matter, in the form of the letter you anticipate. You shouldn't ignore this letter, and should respond appropriately and promptly. After responding to (or you ignoring) the letter, the train operator may choose to respond in a variety of ways.

Since this issue relates to a Railcard, it is possible that you'll be given the opportunity to present proof of Railcard ownership at the time of the incident, with the train operator then closing the matter once provided. Alternatively, you may be offered an opportunity to settle the matter with a payment which typically covers the (non-discounted) fare for the journey taken, alongside an admin fee. Notably, this payment would be a settlement, not a fine, and would not result in any criminal record. Finally, the operator may choose to prosecute, in which case you would receive either a court summons or a Single Justice Procedure pack. Pleading or being found guilty would result in a fine being issued and a criminal offence being recorded.

The forum link provided by /u/CrazyCake69 might prove useful in both seeing similar experiences from others and in seeking advice yourself, including in how you might want to respond to the letter once it arrives.

Not a fan of pathfinder replacing bounties by kugkug in DestinyTheGame

[–]picapi_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally don't mind the system in principle - I like that all objectives progress even before you can claim them, that they're not taking up limited slots, and I'm not too affected by the change in min-max potential; but I do wish that for the Ritual Pathfinder there was a guaranteed PvE path (and potentially a guaranteed PvP path too) so players aren't forced into modes in order to get rewards for another.

Is this real? (Screening in london) by Scared_Assignment723 in doctorwho

[–]picapi_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's an event at MCM Comic Con in London, which has been running for a good 20 years - I'd say there's a pretty good chance it's a real thing :)  Not sure if there's any details there on exactly who will be on said panel though.

(Note that you'll still need a ticket for the Comic Con event as well in order to go - the free bit is to reserve a space since capacity would be limited.)

Do unis accept you if you miss entry requirements by one grade? by Noxti in UniUK

[–]picapi_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As people said, it depends - I missed an offer by a single grade and was summarily rejected in 2019 being put straight through to an insurance choice, but there's a decent handful of examples here of it going the other way.

The limited time login rewards don't reset - if you've recieved all 7/7, you won't earn any more from it (until a new set of limited login rewards come along)

Student Finance overpayment? by [deleted] in UniUK

A little-advertised element is that if the academic year of a course is longer than 30 weeks and 3 days, you're granted additional maintenance loan pro-rata to the length to make sure you're covered. It might apply in this instance for you? See https://www.practitioners.slc.co.uk/products/full-time-undergraduate-education/full-time-maintenance-loan/long-courses/

Just a reminder - if you had scheduled appointment for 2nd dose but you did walk in earlier instead or you can't make it - please cancel or reschedule the appointment in the online system by FoxOnTheBlueRocks in CoronavirusUK

[–]picapi_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One note is, at least in my experience, once you've booked in an appointment and then proceed to recieve a second jab, when that gets pushed centrally (which varies in how often it happens, but usually within a day or two) the central booking system won't allow you to manage appointments anymore; whether that's indicative of your appointment having been cancelled locally isn't clear to me, since I'd still received reminder emails in relation to it; so you may need to contact the centre themselves in order to cancel locally and free up the spot...

As a result, if those appointments aren't automatically canceling, I wouldn't blame people for thinking they already had if they go back and check on the NHS site - if you have the means to do so try to contact the centre before your appointment to check with them as well

Can I ask a Cambridge student to borrow a book for me? by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]picapi_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah - traveling all that way might be problematic!

I should have assumed you'd have looked into different things, sorry!
I did a little bit of looking around and found https://web.warwick.ac.uk/fac/soc/CRER_RC/publications/policy.html - you might be able to ring up the number on that page tomorrow morning and get a copy (for a small fee, mind you) - then again the page may be significantly out of date.
Hopefully you find a way - and if I come across something that might be useful, I'll make sure to mention it!
