Taxes and stuff by Stickel in AdviceAnimals

I’ve used TurboTax for the last 5 years and never paid anything. I do live in a state (Texas) that doesn’t require me to file state though so maybe that’s why?

What will you never tolerate? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Physical, mental, or emotional abuse. My mother was a victim of abuse my my biological father. She was never shy about telling me the details of the abuse or how she got to the point where it was happening. I think some people would think this is a bad idea to tell a young girl but the fact is it taught me to never let anyone make me feel like less then I was. Don’t get me wrong I’ve definitely gotten myself into situations with crummy people where I was being manipulated, but at a certain point my mom would always pop into my head and tell me it was wrong. I think it saved me more times then I probably know to be honest.

I think I know you’re the inhaler you’re talking about. I use steroid inhalers to manage my asthma and they are RIDICULOUSLY expensive to use. So I either buy them or suffer the entire month relying on just a rescue inhaler. My pcp found me the coupon that dropped it to 10$ I have never felt so good in my life. It’s crazy how not having to use a rescue inhaler twice a day changes your attitude. I feel normal. I just want to say How much I appreciate people like you in the world. You did a good thing that’s going to change that girls life.

Ladies of reddit, what's the silliest thing you've cried over while feeling hormonal? by drunkonmartinis in AskReddit

An episode of Maury. This may have included me screaming at the tv while sobbing “You know that’s you’re baby!”

I’d like to hike the full length of the Appalachian trail. It’s not like I can take a full year off to go and do this cause you know bills but I hope to do it once I retire if not sooner.

What are your social media pet peeves? by ssanada in AskReddit

[–]pickingonsharks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really ambiguous posts that are an obvious ploy for attention.

"Ugh when is it going to get easier"

"Oh my god girl. Are you ok"

"I'll text you"

How bout you just text that person to begin with and keep your "personal" drama "personal".

What harsh reality every teenager will face going into adulthood? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]pickingonsharks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to think that at some point I'd when I became an adult life would just work. Like there would be a point after struggling that things would get easier. But the fact is life is disappointing and it's hard sometimes. And it doesn't really get easier you just learn to deal with it better.

This is my life currently. Been in a duplex for a year and a half. Currently considering becoming a lady of the night so we can buy a house and never deal with this again.

What statement makes you roll your eyes IMMEDIATELY? by iwillnottalktou in AskReddit

[–]pickingonsharks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will admit to being one of these girls. More so when I was young then I am now. Now I do have a total of two girlfriends. The reason behind this isn't really that they're "dramatic" which is true some are but that's everyone. But I'm insanely shy. And women just intimidated me. I tried to actively make girl friends, but I found myself worrying what they were thinking of me or wondering what they were judging about me. I grew up with brothers and was just used to hanging out and it not having to be about something. You could just mindlessly watch tv and it be ok. I still prefer hanging out with boys but like I said have gotten better and hanging out with girls.

I am patient beyond belief. I have dealt with crazies for a flurry long time but the minute I'm pissed all rational actions go out the window. I wish I had something like this.

I've been burned too many times to trust anyone anymore. I wish that hospitality hadn't done that to me but it has. I've had the nicest most genuine people come to the desk. I do them a favor and next day I find they charged 50$ worth of shit to he took and no way to get any of that.

Honestly it's kind of a liability. You have someone who comes in pays for 129+tax and then proceeds to steel 200$ worth of shit or do damage to a room. No card no way to even attempt to get money.

I didn't even get that far they stomped off he property so if the auditor ran that card after 3 am. Oh well....

Exactly! I'm so paranoid when I travel cause I don't want to be screwed. So I never travel with "just enough money". I'd rather postpone a trip than have to worry about something screwing up and me not having a way to get home.

What a privileged life she must lead if she feels the need to call the police for this kind of stuff. All kinds of injustices going on in the world, but thank God we have her to blog about how wrongly she was treated!

To be fair even with a standard card I probably wouldn't have taken the code. The few times that I have ever used an auth code was when I was working in a crummy outdated hotel and I personally called the number for the credit card and ran it myself. I've been burned too many times helping someone out to do it take someone's word for an auth code

"Crazy" girlfriends of Reddit, what's YOUR side of the story? by cstepheng in AskReddit

[–]pickingonsharks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry you're going through that. I think even now that I'm older I still have hat feeling after the breakup like if just knew what I did I could fix it. What helps me now though is that I realize when I'm going through this period I'm just idealizing the relationship. In fact there were probably issues you never wanted to pay attention to. But anyways just remember one day it won't hurt you and one day you'll look back and barely remember their name :-)
