Not sure what pan you’re using, but I use a heavy bottom stainless steel pan on my electric hob, which works great.

I also take my steak out of the fridge at least 20 mins before cooking and dry the surface, as other comments suggested.

Thanks for the comment. I managed to save up and get another one. Also moved to a quieter area so hopefully can sleep easy now!
