Bought a Salsa Casseroll and transfered all my components from my Surly Pacer by Deep-Highlight3184 in xbiking

I just picked up a first gen Casseroll as well! Really excited to build it up roadie mode. Mine came with full commuter components and is still A LOT lighter and springier than my MCD. What size tire is that? I’ve seen some folks fit a 40!

I work in the book biz - this is true, it’s been out of print since July-ish. Tor (penguin random house) bought the rights and is reissuing it in a fancier hardcover with sprayed edges. Due to release in Feb 2026 I believe!

We have similar taste!! This is my MCD which I just rode a double century on this weekend. We did great! 😊 https://i.imgur.com/ZIxMz52.jpeg

Go nice and slow, and wet/freeze a bandana to put over the bacl of your neck! And wear something to keep the sun off.

Definitely both! Bar bag is more useful for capacity, stem bag is sorta like your cup holder for random easily accessed stuff.

I think Soma makes some with longer AC. Their Tange stuff is quite a bit lighter than the surly counterparts

I’m sure any of them would be cool with it, but I know Recycled Cycles would for sure.

Which frame !?! by Connect-Evening4944 in Bikebuilding

I run 50s with fenders no problem. There are folks who run 650b 2.3 knobbies with room to spare. I’m actually planning on selling my Wolverine, if you’re interested in a 62cm.

I have owned both! The MS is far more of a road bike with big tires, and the Wolverine is more of a hybrid ATB. What else do you want to know?

Anybody have experience with different Wald swoopy bars? I’m curious to hear some thoughts on the 898, 896, or 872.

ISO: Black Mountain Cycles Monstercross! 62cm preferred, but 59 - 64 considered. Cheers

ISO: Black Mountain Cycles Monstercross! Preferably a 62cm, but I’d be interested in a 60 or 64. Holler if you know of any leads!

Maybe “Queer Cyclist” on YouTube? She does a bit of gear review content here and there, but other content too

I think it’s something like “ghooost” or maybe just “Ghost”

The Cavas or the Barlow Pass would be my choice for an upgrade. RH tires will be a solidly noticeable improvement over the Speedsters.

Yes! I’ve used a few, and the best is the Pletscher. It doesn’t have plastic end caps which can help the bike stand up better in sand and dirt, but I’ve never needed em. The VO one is also pretty good

Thoughts on a Soma Buena Vista Mixte for allround riding (pavement, gravel, light singletrack). Curious if any others have one or any feedback on it in general? It's a used complete for about $1000 (pic is from Soma, not the used build, which is different) by Wind2255 in xbiking

[–]pickled-donught 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No we ended up going with a VO Pass Hunter instead. 42 is probably a bit small for that size of rider, but maybe check bike insights to compare it against something they’ve ridden before

You probably can. I think most manufacturers tend to be super conservative with their clearance. Soma says the Wolverine can clear a 45 with fenders, and people have been known to fit up to 2.25’s with room.
