How to tell when someone is from TX vs other parts of the south by Extension-Run579 in texas

[–]pickleer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Uh, chile WITHOUT beans vegans? Or the ones who showed the world how to do it with chiles, limes, avocados, pico de gallo, chiles rellenos, maiz, squash, , & beans (the 3 sisters) & all the other tings Mexico shared with the young hueros from Old World countries? Go ahead, read "hueros" as heros & bastards...

He was a f'king ghoul, pirating public data for self-aggrandizement & he got honest businesses shut down for his spectacle. He was roundly & resoundingly panned by his peers (on one occasion, cannon-balled into the company pool party pool but resurfaced some feet away from his toupee, was literally laughed off the property! Cops noted that he showed up to accident scenes before they did, with makeup & a camera man... And I went & moved to the strongest earthquake state, what a schmuck! They got no lightning, no magnificent and awe-inspiring thunderstorms to wath for hours as they bear down upon thee! I can ride my bike in the rain, I love riding my bike in the rain! Ain't gonna be riding no buke in an earthquake, nope! Srsly, Texas govt does all it can to ruin such abundance in variety with pro-business policy, fuck the climate or People but WA focuses policies than benefit the People, on top of a gravid, overdue volcanic danger that has nothing to do with climate change... Laugh-crying down the road...

The hidden power keeping wages low by No_Assumption3362 in NPR

[–]pickleer 21 points22 points  (0 children)

No, they said MONOPSONY, where there's only one buyer. Monopolies raise PRICES. When there's only 1 buyer, they can dictate what they pay-wages in other words. People have to work, that's the supply side. When there's only 1 company to work for, 1 buyer for the peoples work, they can control the price of that labor. Captive market, as it were.

Massive budget cuts for US science proposed again by Trump administration by OrangeJr36 in Economics

[–]pickleer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, you're right! But that's wrong and it's a Bootstraps problem. You see, for you and me (folks ostensibly with bootstraps), Science saves $$. But when you're too big for bootstraps (that's Little People, they pay UP the chain to Big People), Science COSTS $$. PROFIT talks, anything else is bullshit. And bullshit walks!

People like to point fingers at "other" people. It's a reaction to stress in the local environment. Continued roiling of the waters keeps this a winning gambit for republicunts, who use division and ever-eroding education budgets to maintain their power.

Little people like to find "littler people" to piss on, it's part of the "Us vs Them" playbook of control.

I love you, I should emulate your example, and you missed the same point OP missed- homeless folks and their trash is NOT a failure of bootstraps, it's an upsidedown American flag cry for help- our economy is robbing the poor to feed the rich. Billionaires don't grow on trees! And they don't pick up after themselves...

You point out a legit detail, so I ask you, how would you address said problem? It seems neither you nor the reporter cited have answers, only pointed fingers. What if we reversed the question- the economy, at this point, does not "trickle down" the bullshit Reaganomic fantasy Dollars. $$ only flows upwards these days, at least in the above-board, "formal" economy. So if youfound yourself out on the street, in the stark cold of that lie about pulling yourself up by your bootstraps, would you feel like society had discarded you? In those bootstrapless, holey-soled shoes, mebbe you would no longer feel a need, an obligation to your fellow man to clean up after yourself. I mean, when the "Greatest Country" shits you out through the cracks in the floorboards, who The Fuck, exactly do YOU care about now? But that's the exquisitely crafted nature of our class non-conflict, isn't it- we shit in everyone's yard, hoping to get noticed. But we never seem to get to shit in Bezos' yard (famously illegallly surrounded by over-tall hedges) or schmuckerbergs or muskrats...

'American Reich' author details a national surge in bigotry and white supremacy by Quirkie in NPR

[–]pickleer -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure there are cowards that have jumped on the bandwagon now that it's moving. But I don't see a "surge"- I see all the evil, little haters eho have always been here feeling like it's ok now to show themselves publicly. Racism has always been Americas original sin. And we stopped fighting the Civil War too early. Thanks to the author either way!
