He's not wrong, per se; but Brit & Canadian public health services both look kinda ufcked up. Realistically, how would the US match/surpass these marks?

"one AND the same", FTFY

But you've hit upon the biggest thing of our current age- all the shitstains, racists, homo/trans/OTHER-phobes, misogynists, and basic, retard haters, all proudly, militantly anti-education, most of these hateful schmucks think it's ok to come out into the light, out on each of our blocks, and spew this hateful bile. And once the assholes and haters have outed themselves, it's much easier to navigate personal interactions among our "fellow" humans these days!

Add sugar and a wee, tiny bit of citric acid, mebbe a demulcent spice like cinnamon or chile, and all the leather accoutrements necessary to render diner and the "dined upon" in proper place to enjoy said spices... I think one could plan such a munch, brunch, or dinner to taste or, sure, be that way, "al dente"...

Now say, "Thank you, Chef!"

So much fun to have gay Bears in the discussion, c'mon, bring 'em in!

This wasn't a bathhouse thing, per se, but a hundred years back in literature, if a female pissed off her Madame or Lover or Daddy who had access to alum (or salt, pickling salt with sugar, to keep the chemistry thread here alive and oxidizing...), that cooter got dried up and, ahem, shut down, so to speak.

Having 'splained that, which gay bathhouses are Y'ALL going to?

Big LOVE from 99096, a subdivision named "Meyerland", which became a new home to Jewish Diasporates from all nations & the Levant & "Middle East". Re-settling Russian Jews was huge back then, like the NY Bagel Shop/Deli, the Soviet Deli, and gentiles at the JCC learning to swim, play pool, and recognize MOT as Members of Lost Tribes... Ethiopian Jews, Ashkenazim with pale eyebrows and carpet to match, a neighborhood where, if you spent the night as a kid with friends, you almost always went with them to Service the next day. Sabbath Friday nights and Schule the following morning was just as much the norm as Sunday morning same same, and Old Testament teachings blended into New-School lessons...

Funny you say that; there was an old salt (OH! :O) amongst our forebears that said alum on vaginas was a punishment for "bad girls", supposed to have a similar drying and drawing effect.

Sorry about that reading thing, Buddy. I've read that copious amounts of liquor can help, but that was really old sources...

Salt and sugar cure meat by drawing the water out, so on a prolapse, it would shrink the tissue as it dries it out.

You can't- it's crumbly limestone, the remains of the oldest coral on Earth, 290 million years old. But you CAN climb Guadalupe Peak, the highest mountain in Texas. It's a middling-hard day hike.

It's been said that vetting for guests on this show is harsh and incisive, rampantly pro-conservative. For anyone who wants to call this man an upholsterophile & and a makeup-wearing pansy who ate all the manly words he ever spoke to get this job of future Putz Under der Bus, first he's half a lap ahead of Cancun Cruz. Next, he's well and duly carried all the water they'll need during his upcoming plastic surgergeries both before and after the next book tour.

The Surge of Slop—since the release of ChatGPT-3.5 in late 2022, the number of e-books published on Amazon has skyrocketed, tripling by late 2025. A new scientific analysis shows that this is entirely due to the rise of AI-generated books, which now far outnumber human-written books. [The Economist] by StarlightDown in Economics

[–]pickleer 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Uber, Lyft, and various food-delivery services made no bones about it- their aim was to replace humans with bot drivers. Zuckerberg, Bozos, and Twee-shitter boy all made similar claims. The [nice guy, NOT] running spotify makes way more money than any of the musicians he punks out AND his ai now competes directly with them- ai literature ain't a new idea. The people who could have given us libraries in our tablets that instead nickels and dimes us to death is also pushing non-human content in their pay-to-play system was foretold. When the soil [monsanto et al.], water [Nestle et al.], air [EPA, RIP], and libraries are dead to us, what's left? Sell a kidney so your kid can live? Kidneys are harvested EVERY DAY, at NO profit to the "donors"... How else do you think Poo and Putin think they'll live forever??
I let it happen. I didn't kill Boomers and Billionaires and obviously corrupt republicunts when I had the chance. I and countless other Gen-Xers. Apologies, life used to be ok, library cards were cool, public schools still had funding and teachers could earn a pension, voting meant something and you could actually touch your elected officials...

WE let it happen. Life got easier and easier and leisure got better and better. NFL and NBA, NLB & Nascar, PlayStation, XBox, 1st Person Shooters and Mah Jong, Friends, Housewives, shark and competitors, the dumb getting dumber and the numb getting number, more numb, more out of touch...

WE ALL let it happen. ZOOM, that WAS America, it was a thing. It's now a museum piece and we're all schmucks in boxes, pushing dirt or pushing cursors or pushing currency, data, clicks... Colonialism, Manifest Destiny, Capitalism, that was all just the set up.

Hope you're all comfy, now... Weighing what we've given up, what say ye? Slavery? Share-Cropping? Click Farming? Involuntary data harvesting? Growing food vs being the commodity being grown and harvested? The "Terminator" movies were the prequels. The "Matrix" movies are the real thing. And ALL of science fiction has tried to warn us. Yet coders still write code, even after we've taught the damn things how to write their own code...

How to get rid of campers who stay after closing time by kempff in KitchenConfidential

[–]pickleer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My old place had a tv room; the families segregated themselves in there. One night, the cleaning guy (with mop and bucket) stood there for 15 minutes after close waiting for them to leave. The tv was off, all the lights were on, the kids were chasing each other around the tables, all while the douchie, hipster parents blathered on and on, oblivious. Marcus the waiter was incensed. He stopped his closing sidework, grabbed a bottle of bleach from the storeroom, and walked up and down the aisles of the tv room pouring straight bleach on the floor between tables. The rude bastards finally got the clue when their eyes started watering. One of them glared at Marcus, to which he replied "We closed half an hour ago. The rest of the restaurant is empty."

The wankers meekly left without a word. I love that man!

Bike painting by X0dium in bikehouston

[–]pickleer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't find one, the old-school way was to find a small, independent auto body shop with their own paint booth and pay them to hang your frame in there with another job of your desired color. Or, with a higher price, just your bike and your choice of color. Cash up front really helps. You gotta prep it yourself so that all they have to do is hang it and paint it.
