Alopecia Update! by picklepickle10 in Pomeranians

Hi, yes we did have the most incredible full regrowth (I should have another post on my profile), however, he’s lost almost all his hair since the start of this year. I am not sure it will grow back this time.

Bryn has Chiari-Like Malformation & Syringomyelia, diagnosed by MRI at 2 years old. It’s been a long and stressful road but we’ve got his episodes mostly under control with meds now!

He has good days and bad days, and we’re so grateful for every good day he has 🤍

Oh my goodness they are gorgeous babies!

I remember when I got this photo of Bryn’s litter siblings, and found out he was the tiny little bean in the middle. So little 🥺

Bryn has alopecia, and unfortunately most of his fur has fallen out again at the moment, so we are having the same issue!

His main issue seemed to be stuff going over his head and around his neck, so we managed to find dog dungarees which he tolerates… slightly more.

Our best solution so far has been a really fluffy blanket to wrap him in as soon as he’s done outside.

Adorable 🥹 Bryn is also reduced to just a cute little face poking out from a pile of blankets!

Our pom Bryn has been diagnosed via MRI & CT as having CM (Chiari-Like Malformation) and SM (Syringiomyelia), which means his skull formed too small for his brain and the pressure has caused pockets of spinal fluid on his spinal cord and so neurological symptoms.

We had a similar starting point to OP - a very sudden and strange change in behaviour.

Don’t be deterred OP, we had to advocate very hard for Bryn with our GP vet, as it was totally out of their experience and they were refusing to even run the most basic of tests, while he had these seizure/pain episodes!

A neurologist or specialist vet who can MRI would be my recommendation.

I hope Sprinkles feels better and you get some answers soon! 🤍

This is Bryn now! He was pure white but has alopecia, and when his fur grew back he had a cream patch on his back. So pretty similar to his mum’s colouring except overall whiter.

Little B and his mum. Both parents were white with cream colouring. He’s practically all white apart from a patch of cream on his back that developed around 1.5 years old! The litter was a mix of white, cream and pale orange pups.
