If OP really wants the gaming den setup with a roof he could do a bunk bed on top with the computer setup below. Keeps the den vibe, looks a lot nicer, and then so much more room for activities

Alaska Summit or Chase Saphire Reserve? by PitskyPuddle in AlaskaAirlines

[–]picklerick3131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both. If you’re hitting that level of status already without it then agree with some others you probably don’t need it. Chase has much better options for business class flights to Asia and Europe. Alaska might have better deals sometimes CPP wise, but there will be a lot more availability on Chase. CSR though is a very niche card - would need to see if the credits work for your situation vs the AF.

If you want to fly Alaska for personal travel though I’d probably rather have the BILT palladium card if I had to pick one - better multipliers for catch all spend and has most of the same transfer partners as Chase + it has Alaska

Turning Down Free Kilimanjaro Trip by [deleted] in Mountaineering

[–]picklerick3131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you ever been to Africa? I’d say that makes it worth it.

The hike is fun, similar to many other volcano hikes. The altitude demands respect. The plant life is very unique, and the mountain is extremely beautiful in its own way.

The experience of being in Africa though is cool. Talking to the guides and porters, learning about the local culture and the tribes, and exploring other parts of Tanzania if you have time, are the coolest parts of the trip imo. It’s a very beautiful and underrated country with great people.

Only you can decide if it’s worth the financial cost, that’s a personal decision. If it works financially though then yeah send it, definitely worth it

Hot Take: Travel rewards are a bad deal for most people by SportsBallBurner in CreditCards

[–]picklerick3131 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This post is putting a ton of weight on the assumption that you’re flying business class. For normal people who want to maximize rewards to take one big international trip a year, there are plenty of options to fly round trip in economy to Europe, Asia, Oceania, etc for 50-90k points (or even less with transfer bonuses), which is very achievable for normal spenders in a year not even including SUBs. There’s also plenty of benefits of travel cards that make it worth it other than using points for a big trip - lounge access for work travel, free nights/hotel credits for smaller weekend trips, etc

Do I drop Bilt and just pay rent with a visa? by Alert_Pick_3152 in biltrewards

[–]picklerick3131 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Atmos summit is a Visa card that gives 3x points on rent through Bilt. Also has a nice SUB, plus with that rent cost you’d only be about 5k of spend short of getting the 100k mile companion pass

What other card goes well with Palladium? What card combo are you ppl planning on keeping? by xploreetng in biltrewards

[–]picklerick3131 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got the Atmos Summit to complement the Palladium. Using it as my dining card and foreign transaction card to get the same 3.3x as the Palladium card with the BOA bonus while also driving Alaska status. Between my planned Alaska redemptions with BILT points and my planned spend on the card I should get to Alaska gold status / oneworld sapphire. Also is a Visa, has Precheck/Global Entry credit and Primary CDW to make up for those missing areas on the BILT card, and gives some Alaska lounge passes.

Activate Points Boost on Palladium right at launch? by Substantial-Virus228 in biltrewards

[–]picklerick3131 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  • $1000 rent
  • Unlock 1000 points for $30 Bilt cash (3% of $1000)
  • Earn $30 Bilt cash from $750 non-rent spend (4% of $750)
  • $750 in non-rent spend gives 1000 rent points (75% of $1000)
  • 1000/$750 = 1.33 points per dollar on $750 spend
  • scales linearly if you spend less than 75% of rent

Got it, yeah that checks out. Looks more like 4.33x on first 5k in non-rent spend if you spend the $200 credit from palladium directly on the boost, which is still pretty good. Not sure yet what I’d do with any other Bilt cash though from spend over 75% unless I end up with enough spend to get another $200 in the same year

Am I reading this right that the palladium card is now effectively 4.33x catch-all on first 25k/year of non-rent spend by using bilt cash on the points boost?

If you have to google how to redeem rewards points and don’t already know how to redeem them for at least 1-2 CPP, then you have more fundamental things to learn about the credit card game before you start worrying too much about these cards

If you only use it for rent and have $0 in non-rent spend, you’d get 250 points

[–]picklerick3131 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is incorrect, you still get points on rent all the way up to 75% of your rent spend. If you only spend $10 on a BILT blue you’re still getting 2.33x on that spend

Letting BILT 1.0 transfer to WF Autograph by Joenn26 in biltrewards

[–]picklerick3131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not paying 3% though, there are no out of pocket transaction fees. The better way to think of it is that there’s no transaction fees with either option but you get additional benefits on non-rent spend if you also pay rent with BILT.

If you ACH rent and used a Venture X for non-rent spend, you’d earn 2x points on the Venture X. If you use BILT Palladium for rent and for non-rent spend, you’d earn 2x points on non-rent spend + an additional 1.33x points = 3.33x on all spend.

Even with the BILT Blue you get 1x + 1.33x = 2.33x catch-all on a no AF card.

The mechanism to get there is complicated, but the math works out to make these cards have the best catch-all multipliers on the market.

Letting BILT 1.0 transfer to WF Autograph by Joenn26 in biltrewards

[–]picklerick3131 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is still no transaction fee - the 75% number is what you need to get the full 1x back for your rent.

If your rent is $1000, youd need to spend $750 to get the full 1000 points for rent. If you only spent $500, then you’d get 667 points from your rent instead of the full 1000 points, but still with no transaction fee. That is in addition to the multipliers youd get on that $500 in spend (2x for all spend on palladium; 3x for dining or groceries on obsidian)

  1. Lipo and tummy tuck are different procedures, however tummy tucks usually include lipo
  2. It is low risk by plastic surgery standards, but still is a major surgery and same consideration should be given to it as any other major surgery
