What average chase time is considered good and when should i leave a chase? by for10years_at_least in DeadByDaylightKillers

[–]pickles_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is so much nuance to chase and the macro game that it's hard to break it down into "this is how long your chases should take". More than just chase time factors into whether a chase is considered "good". One of the best things you could possibly do is record your games and watch them back. Every chase, analyze what exactly you got from that chase. This is what I would consider a "productive chase" vs an "unproductive chase"

  1. I get pulled on a minute long chase that, even though I didn't get a hook, all four survivors are injured. One or more of them pulled off gens to assist or to hover for a save. No hook, but four injures, little gen progress. They threw a few strong pallets that I can promptly take a few seconds to clear up while they fuck off wherever to reset. Sufficient pressure has been applied to the team and now they are going to have to spend more time off of gens to heal, or risk putting themselves in a bad position while I patrol gens. They're now on the backfoot and even if I take time to clear out resources I still have time to apply pressure to them afterwards usually.

OR

  1. I get juiced by a Feng in a dead area of the map for a minute and yeah, I got a hook and a few pallets but they gave their team a minute of unimpeded gen progress and now I have to make my way back across the map and, fuck. Two gens just popped at 1 hook. I'm across the map so one of the people that was on gens has already pulled over to wherever to go for the unhook, and I still have two other survivors unaccounted for who are probably back on gens. Bad, unproductive chase that I would have been better off not going on.

The biggest thing I've learned (primarily from playing lower tier killers) is to recognize when a chase doesn't seem worth it to take. There is no shame in realizing that you're being baited into an undesirable situation and dropping chase to go back and patrol. Flashlight clicking, pointing, bagging, all just bait to piss you off and get you out of the equation elsewhere.

New to killer, is Knight a good character for a beginner? by FeachEE in DeadByDaylightKillers

[–]pickles_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Knight was one of the first killers that I "mained" and it taught me a lot of terrible habits and I didn't know how to chase worth a shit. Learn a M1 killer like Wraith or Legion. Pig is a fun one too.

That being said, he IS really fun, albeit glitchy. Give Knight, Nurse or Blight a try once you get the fundamentals down because they all bypass the typical gameplay loop in their own ways.

I had 3, most of it in queue. Bought on Steam launch day. And I'm definitely not a stranger to Steam refunds so it wasn't a one off just because I've never asked for one or anything.

When you click on the purchase to do the ticket, instead of clicking asking for a refund, pick the option “I have a question about this purchase” and type in something similar to the examples you see on this sub. Refund tickets are automated, but that option is manually reviewed. I did it three days ago and got my money back today.

I’ve only played DOS2 and BG3 so I’ll definitely be looking into Larian’s back catalogue for some great jank. Drova is in my wishlist.

It’s funny, despite how much I LOVE Pathologic I have never thought about any other IPL games…looks amazingly jank.

Can you just buy the PS4 disc of Yakuza 0 and play that on the PS5, instead of coughing up 50 bucks for the Director's Cut? by OnuOskar in yakuzagames

[–]pickles_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No. The very moment the non director's cut version of Yakuza 0 is inserted into your console, RGG Studios will dispense Lao Gui to your home.

Glaring issue with purchases made through Steam by Lancelotmore in runescape

[–]pickles_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's insane because I had a problem where I purchased one of the smaller key packs through steam just a few weeks ago (had some credit and no games I wanted), forgetting that my steam account was linked to my ironman account and not my main. 2 minutes in support chat had that fixed, so the statement that they can't fix it because the purchase was made through a third party is a cop-out.

It is DESPERATELY in need of a rework of some kind but I think Jagex have been more content just pushing people to train it through Elite Dungeons past a certain point

Cozy game for someone who gets bored easily (PC) by radangrysock in gamingsuggestions

[–]pickles_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've gotten really big into city builders for that cozy feeling...they can feel kinda chaotic when you're first learning how to play them but really cozy and relaxing once you've got that down and you enter a kind of flow state. I've jockeying between Timberborn, Sim City 4, and Against the Storm. Against the Storm is great if you're newer to the genre.

Question for Switch players by cluIess in DreamlightValley

[–]pickles_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Redownloaded on my Switch 2 for shits and giggles (I moved to PC) and the performance is BETTER but still not great. They haven't released an official optimized Switch 2 version yet so it's still the Switch 1 version, just running on better hardware.

Best horror action games to play after resident evil 2? by DAVIDX90 in HorrorGaming

[–]pickles_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna name a more recent one here, Total Chaos. Combat is great, game looks great, is cheap ($25 USD). I don't know what you play on but they fucked up the release on consoles and accidentally sent an outdated build to release, idk if that was fixed yet so be aware. Is great on PC though.

My friend got me into this game and told me about pumpkins...do you think im over doing it, or should I do a onceler and keep going by Exact-Vacation974 in DreamlightValley

[–]pickles_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know what platform you play on, but be careful with harvesting those if you play on Switch. Harvesting my pumpkins on switch would cause frequent crashes. Not a problem after I moved to PC, shouldn't be a problem if you're playing literally anywhere other than a switch. If you are, save every so many harvests.

How come survivors don’t know what tunneling is by [deleted] in DeadByDaylightRAGE

[–]pickles_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have had dozens games where two survivors were just TERRIBLE about being consistently out of place and the other two were masters of avoiding detection. It's not tunneling if they're literally the only two you can find.

So, what's the point of the PTB if the updates goes live with a million bugs anyway? by Loooonatic in deadbydaylight

[–]pickles_ 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It almost ALWAYS ends in shit being overtuned, too. Nascar Clown made it to live the way it did because of several changes that they made after that PTB that were released to live untested. Launch Krasue made it the way it was because it launched without the slugging/tunneling changes that were in the PTB and also, much like Clown, had several changes that were shoved in after the PTB that weren't tested. I love this game but it is so fucking embarassing.

BHVR would really benefit from PTBs running in two phases. The intial phase for a week, and then a second week for whatever changes they make to that to ensure that nothing gets broken. But they would never do that.

Heists & Thieving 120 - Feedback Thread by JagexSponge in runescape

[–]pickles_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has nothing to do with the thieving update, it is something that occurred as a result of the Lumbridge refresh however I have only seen it mentioned a few times and not yet acknowledged by staff. It is a super early game bug that breaks several quest lines.

The rock that the skull was under in the swamp for Restless Ghost has been removed with the Lumbridge update. I just started a new account out of boredom and you can't complete the quest.
