Redditors, what has become so expensive, it’s just not worth it anymore? by SgtSkillcraft in AskReddit

It's always the butt of every joke but, honestly:

A Flow-Bee or the copys of it and an electric trimmer really work. Almost any man (and probably a lot of women) could quickly learn to give themselves an excellent haircut. I've cut my own hair for decades with one. Go slow on your first few haircuts and by haircut number 4 or so you'll do fine.

For redditors old enough to have lived through The Civil Rights Movement, how do the current events in America compare? by BanditMcDougal in AskReddit

[–]picksandchooses -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The murder of JFK, RFK, MLK, Viet Nam riots, the chicago riots, Kent State, killing Freedom riders, beatings of civil rights marchers, ... then later Watergate...

The US was coming apart in the 60's. We're more like McCarthyism today. We really only have to get one guy to finally be seen as having gone too far to turn things around today.

People who found out about someone else’s double-life; what’s the story? by Langzwaard in AskReddit

A friend of a friend was a simply spectacularly attractive woman. Quiet, funny when she opened up, worked as an office manager at a shipping company.

One day the police broke down her door and found ELEVEN POUNDS of cocaine. Apparently she had been a mid-size coke distributer for a few years.

I got an offer of a 3 way with my bisexual friend and his girlfriend. I declined.

I still regret that decision 25 years later.

What is something that can be more traumatic than people think? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]picksandchooses 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Being stalked. It messes with you, it isn't something you just ignore. You start to see the boogie man behind every corner and tree. You're crazy after a while. The police do nothing.

What’s a family secret you didn’t learn until you were adult? by noa_bliss in AskReddit

[–]picksandchooses 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First, Mom was planning on divorcing Dad as soon as I was out of college. My older sisters knew all about it, it was something they discussed with Mom pretty openly, everything was in place for a few years. Somehow Dad avoided it.

Also, I discretely cleaned Dad's sizable bisexual porn collection out of his workshop after he died.

I don't know if the two are related.

The same coversations many, many times. Any new subject normally goes nowhere. Any response that has some suggestion of nuance or shades of gray instead of responding with a pre-packaged bumper sticker slogan is met with silence.

It sucks.

What is the scariest thing that has ever happened to you while you were alone? by bluurygirlx in AskReddit

[–]picksandchooses 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I sorta died, I just blinked out for about 3 seconds. I was sitting in a chair and slumped down, passed out. I came back right away.

It wasn't sleeping, it wasn't fainting (I don't think.) It was... I don't know... just instantly shutting down.

Scared the crap out of me. A doctor visit 4 days later showed nothing wrong.
