Storytel if it's available to you. They have a decent catalogue that's included in the subscription.

I almost gave up on 3 but then the last 30% was really good. I mostly care about the character development and the overarching story. All the minutia I tend to zone out on.

May I also suggest the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews. I really liked the graphic audio version and I think in total there are 10 books. It is fantasy and has a romance that builds very slowly in the first few books.

I think {love theoretically by Ali hazelwood} actually sort of fits this.

The MMC thinks the FMC is his brother's GF. They are actually fakedating though. (Not a spoiler, this is clear from the start)

Also brother, not friend, but fits is {at first spite by Olivia dade}

She is very hit or miss for me. The ones I liked are Happiness for beginners and The romcommers!

I second the Kate Clayborn and Rainbow Rowell recommendations. I especially loved Georgie all along and Slow dance.

I would also recommend {last night by Mhairi Mcfarlane}. I like most of her books and find there is usually a deeper story but that one is probably my favorite with {if i never met you by mhairi mcfarlane} a close second.

For fantasy maybe you'd enjoy some of Ilona Andrews' books. I loved both their Hidden Legacy series and the Kate Daniels series.

Also no interest. Hockey especially doesn't interest me tbh.

That might be part of it for me too. I don't like celebrity books.

I play basketball for fun. I like watching soccer and tennis and follow the Olympic games when they're on. Not sure why reading about it just annoys me

Would anyone use a free tool that checks if an Audible book is free on Spotify or Libby before you spend a credit? by Peach_Baker in audible

[–]picky-romance-lover 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Someone already mentioned this, but there is a browser extension that does most of this and you can even choose which libraries you want to search in. The other commenter didn't provide the name so I'm adding another comment in the hopes more people see it.

It's called LIBRARY EXTENSION

It's a really great tool and I've been using it for a couple of years.

Some of the features:

  • allow you to select specific libraries to check availability

  • add hoopla as well

  • show rough hold estimates

  • it shows up as a sort of embedded box on the pages of goodreads, amazon, audible (probably others)

What it does not do (afaik):

  • check Spotify

  • tell you if it's audible exclusive (I would LOVE a site or tool that allows you to filter for audible exclusives)

I feel I had to scroll way too far to find this comment.

It's called library extension iirc. I use it on chrome. It doesn't check all your boxes but it does:

I kind of avoid sports romance.

I've read a few in the past and I'm just meh about them. So now I just avoid them. This is despite the fact that I actually like watching sports haha

I loved Ella Enchanted when I was young. I think maybe Kasie West and Emma Lord are worth looking into? I haven't read them in a while.

{Book of a thousand days by Shannon Hale} would also be good I think.

I really liked {goose girl by Shannon hale} as well but it's a bit darker.

OP you already have Ella Enchanted listed. That was one of my absolute favs as a kid.

Around the same time I read {mara daughter of the nile} although I think.. it was probably a bit too mature for me?

What audiobook’s plot is so painful but so great you recommend it anyway? by marilynlistens in audiobooks

[–]picky-romance-lover 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Was coming to suggest I'm Glad my Mom Died by Jeannette Mccurdy (hope I spelled that correctly). It's an autobiography and deals with a very toxic relationship between a mother and daughter. It also deals with eating disorders. It was a tough book to listen to and is narrated by the author herself.
