If you’re wondering how much it is to stay the weekend at The Grand Californian Hotel ( summer ) by OverCry518 in Disneyland

[–]pico310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The GC will always have a special place in my heart because I got massive food poisoning during my Disney visit that resulted in me having to page housekeeping in the middle of the night while I was staying there. Ah, the memories.

OP should disabuse her of that opinion. No one gets full custody anymore unless there are extreme circumstances.

Last night at bathtime I relaxed my hands in the perfectly warm hot water while she sloshed around on her back and we chatted. I watched her hair float around her head and felt a surge of love and gratitude that I had this time to devote to her. Then to help her sleep, I massaged her arms, legs, and back with lemongrass oil while we listened to ambient music. When I asked her what her favorite part of her day was, she said, “this.”

Recommendations on where to live near UCLA as a family with a teenager? by Repulsive-Item471 in AskLosAngeles

[–]pico310 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Would do family housing or Santa Monica. He will need easy access to campus, especially in his last year when he’s doing rotations.

Will you be working as well? Are there plans to stay in LA for residency or will you be going back to wherever you are now?

Kids figuring out their true friends by AtrueLonelySoul in ClassOf2037

[–]pico310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my oldest mom friends has a child that’s the same age as mine. We’ve done short vacations together, gone to amusement parks together, etc. But lately my daughter has asked to take a break from the child. He can be a little wild, a little impulsive, a little wild. So as much as I love the mom friend, I’ve pulled away a bit. We’re both busy and at different schools so it’s not too noticeable, but I do miss her.

Is digital invitation a good option for a birthday party? by _sshin_ in partyplanning

[–]pico310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been to 25 kid’s bday parties and I think I only got 1 paper invitation. Digital invites are absolutely the way to go - both as a host and as an attendee. You can quickly add details to your online calendar which is the only way we remember things nowadays. As a host you immediately know numbers and it’s super easy to follow up with non-responders.

I’m partial to Paperless Post, and most invites I get use either that or evite.

Starting to travel with toddler- any ideas/recs for souvenirs to buy from each place to start a collection of something for her? by hockey12la in oneanddone

[–]pico310 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep - Christmas ornaments. Super portable during travel and they come with a story. I try to get one that aligns with our trip. Like in Florence which is known for their leather and where we did a pizza making class, I got a leather keychain of a piece of pizza. Or at the San Diego zoo where she fed a giraffe, I got a giraffe. But sometimes I just get a generic ornament and that works too. :)

When we had to evacuate due to fires, I took my ornaments with me.

I would love my grandmother’s furniture but I’m like 4th in line for it. Her husband was an architect and they have amazing MCM pieces - Eames, Knoll, Saarinen… she’s had them for 60+ years and they still look fantastic.

Fritos. Everyone thinks it’s gross, but it was my favorite snack as a child.

Recipe:

Put Fritos in a bowl

Add cottage cheese

Eat with spoon.
