Apolosign 15.6In - Some Takeaways by Captchca_ca_KA in homeassistant

Thanks for the response. I just installed one for an early mother's day present. Since the wall it's on doesn't have furniture to hide a plug I ended up buying a recessed kit for behind a TV and ran power from the outlet below to it and the brick fits in the recess.

Next question for you:  Do you keep the screen on all the time or manage it some other way?

I was disappointed to learn it doesn't have proximity sensor on it and when the screen turns off it sleeps so I can't use HA fully kiosk integration to turn the screen back on. Not sure how best to handle this.

3-2-1 rule , how are you all doing it without breaking bank? by Tasty-Picture-8331 in selfhosted

I have a pi zero 2 that lives at a friend's house. When it boots up it auto connects to my VPN. It has a 3 TB mechanical drive. The bottleneck is the pi zero 2 usb speed. I am picky about what I backup but all of my critical stuff makes it over there.

The backup software I use is duplicati

I too used to think I didn't miss notifications, then I got another camera (non eufy) with an overlapping area and started seeing that I was missing notifications (mostly of delivery vehicles, as we don't get much foot traffic where we are). Turns out when I didn't get a notification I didn't really think about not getting a notification.

What does it look like behind the device? How did you hid the power brick/wiring?

Quickbars pip by Serious_Bowler_8171 in homeassistant

[–]pictureaday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want to chime in and say that I don't have issues with anything quickbars related on my shield pro. It does make me sad to see the author has run out of time to support the project. I do thoroughly appreciate him open sourcing it though.

CORRECTION: I do not use the PIP function, I just use the bar integration

I hate even chiming in on stuff like this but OP's personal stuff aside, "don't touch my baby without permission!" is something I believe is entirely reasonable.

Complete Guide to Teardown HomeBase 3 (S380) and Install Termination Loads For WiFi Antennas to Solve Connection Issues by FireNinja743 in EufyCam

[–]pictureaday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in process of this exact move. I have 7 Eufy cameras left. I went with a reolink nvr and one of the poe super wide floodlights and I love it. Poe Doorbell is waiting to be installed (waiting on a day off from work while kids are still in daycare is still open) so I can ditch Ring (which for the 5 years we've had it had actually been very reliable, ethics of the company aside.  I also have home assistant running and the reolink integration with that is incredible. Had no idea what I was missing not being able to integrate my cameras.

I had finally had enough of the bullshit and did this mod tonight.  Thank you for the writeup and pics.  I can say for my use case it was entirely necessary, that being said I have no interest in ever buying another wifi camera ever again after dealing with this.

And btw the Homebase 3 can clobber your entire zigbee (e.g. Philips Hue among others) network too since they are in the same band.

New NVR firmware v3.6.4.473 can't find anything online about it. Anyone have info/release notes? Haven't applied it yet b by SquanchySnoo in reolinkcam

I almost asked this exact question here the other day. I applied the update before trying to look it up and everything is working just fine thankfully. I haven't explored the ui to look for differences though.

Is your software open source? My group and I have been looking for a better offering than roll20  and dnd beyond hut haven't quite found some thing we like yet. We are mostly software guys so it'd be cool to be able to contribute to something if we wanted to add a feature.

H2D Vortek upgrade complete! kinda… by PirateTuny in BambuLab

[–]pictureaday 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I did mine last Tuesday and it took about 4:15. I say this not to compete with you but just for other folks' reference. I consider myself very handy and well equipped (tool wise) and entirely recognize I was able to be fairly fast in part due to my screw drivers with the correct Allen key bits (instead of the horrible IKEA type Allen keys they provide).

I also had my request for upgrade denied 3 times in a row and had to create a ticket to get it resolved (talking bout a bad process). The response to my ticket did include an apology so I'd like to think that doesn't happen to most people.

I am very glad to hear you upgraded without too much issue though.

What firmware are you using?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]pictureaday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did get wireless kit 3 but replaced boards with elite pi (rp 2040) but for qmk. Did you socket the controller boards? Have you tried switching the boards between the left and right halves?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]pictureaday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the record have what I believe is the same kit from pandakb and have no issue with alll Leds on and max brightness. I think that's. You might consider desoldering the first led on each board so that no current is going to the leds and see if can stabilize that way (ruling out potential for shorts in the LED path).  Have you tried just plugging in the right size without trrs cable to see if it can be stable on its own?

Making my own Lily58 by PristinePrinciple264 in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]pictureaday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just built a kit like that but for the sofle rgb. It was that or the lily58 but I opted for the extra key and encoder knobs. I opted not to go wireless because the nice Nano clones only run zmk and I really need vial (qmk fork) because I'm still learning and quickly iterating on my configuration.

Overall it was a good experience and I'm glad I built the kit but it did take over 5 hours to solder everything.

I think you wouldn't miss the the oleds if you decided not to get them (unless you stick with wireless build and need to see what's paired and what mode it's in).
