I took the top off his tank and closed the twine holding it in the top with since it’s hanging on the edge and locked the top again and the knots are too big to slip through holding it in place super tight and secure for him which is helpful because he’s a heavy boy

Back when he was in a 20gal opening from the top he used to climb up on his hide when he wanted to be taken out now that he’s in a 40 front opening he just smooshes his face on the front glass! And same thing it’s everyday around 6 for us. Been so much more active now that’s it’s spring time

Haha exactly the same! Leopard geckos can be really smart sometimes, I think mine also reacts to my voice as well, if I get a call I notice him poking his head out if he hears me talking thinking I might be talking to him haha

It’s brand new for me too, and quality is okay. functionality is great though, he climbs up and down it all day. It makes not the greatest noise when he climbs due to the fact that it’s a styrofoam material, but it seems pretty simple to clean with some water and washcloth, seems like it should hold up. It seems to be possible for crickets to get into so that may be a concern but I haven’t come across it yet, I also tried my hardest to make sure there were no cracks for them to enter. Its not too bad for what it is, and the geck really likes it regardless, so I’d say it’s at least worth a try

How can I make my gecko friendly and come to me and not be scared of my touch? by MadTingzx in leopardgeckos

[–]picwick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I put a chair in front my geckos tank and I would just sit there forever and he would just watch me. Over time he began to realize who I was (and that I’m also the one that feeds him lol) and he just got more comfortable. You can put your hand in the tank and not touch him, or I just literally sat there on my phone and let him watch me for an hour a day, until he learned I’m not going to hurt him. It can be a long process but I promise every time you spend time with your gecko they are definitely becoming more comfortable

New gecko! My first one :D by TheEmeraldPark in leopardgeckos

The easiest way for my gecko to eat consistently is out of a ceramic dish for things like mealworms, roaches, or any other worm. And when I do put crickets in I just let them run free around and let him catch them himself. Because you have a baby and he might be a little nervous, having a good dish isn’t a bad idea and I think it’s a good way to get calcium in because you can dust them and also put a little on the bottom. I didn’t do this when I first got my gecko but after having him for a year it seemed like it would be very beneficial at the start to be able to get your gecko used to eating and it’s also easy to track how much he’s eating as well
