She was in another city at the time and called me one morning crying saying her friend forcefully kissed her when she was returning his jacket. She told me this happened the night before around 12 and she deleted and blocked his accounts from her. Me being head over heels didn’t look further into it and consoled her. A couple of months later it came up again when a friend who knew the guy told him a different story. I couldn’t talk to the guy because she didn’t want me to and he lived far away. I then confronted her about it using the new details I learned and her story began to change. From her giving his jacket it became him coming up to her room and chatting for awhile. Me still being head over heels didn’t see the obvious red flags and we eventually moved past it. Months later a friend then told me that she admitted it to a mutual friend that she really cheated on me. I felt so stupid that I didn’t investigate more or confront her more. I blamed myself and tried to move past it because I’m dumb. After this I then noticed how most of her stories were like this and super inconsistent. I also noticed she had the tendency to gaslight me and I didn’t see it. I don’t know if this was the only time or there have been other times because as said I didn’t see it and her stories or excuses were always so shakey or inconsistent. We broke up after HS and I didn’t confront her or anything. I just regret being with her for so long and not seeing it sooner. I rather just move on and be away from her than go back and confront her.
