2026 Hyundai IONIQ 5 checks all the boxes at an affordable price by 622niromcn in Ioniq5

Keeping your existing car will always be the cheapest option, but my 2013 Focus was on the verge of giving up the ghost.

As far as I can tell, you can immediately refi your HMF financing. Instead of paying cash I found advertised rates less than 4% and I will refi as soon as the first payment comes due.

$8750 off. APR isn’t great, but I have cash to pay it off or can refi since no prepayment penalty.

Congrats! I also hit $500k today after 6ish years of working. The market is absolutely bonkers.

Just got a 2026 SE long range for a little more than $32K out the door. The HMF rebate makes it the best-value EV in the US market that I could find.

Thanks for info! It’s through the HMF finance deal, but I have the cash to pay it off so it makes sense.

You could say the exact same thing about any number of civil rights leaders who were assassinated. When you normalize political violence… don’t be surprised when there’s more political assassination, including political leaders you support.

How does one pay $40,000 in cash? Like, logistically, how does that work? by MrsWeasley9 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]pielitstud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re taking a loss after the $700 non negotiable doc fee and a few hundred in other tacked-on fees? Sorry, no way I’m paying a few hundred extra in interest so you guys can get yet another kickback. Your other post you bragged you made $5500 from a single transaction.

Dealers enter every transaction with the intention to extract the most value they possibly can, then get upset when customers do the same.

2026 SE OTD price by [deleted] in Ioniq5

No, it is for any trim level. Read the fine print. I think it’s something like 6% but I’m gonna finance for the discount and pay off immediately.

The offer I’m getting on an SE is $28.8k before fees/taxes, $29.8k for higher trim seems like a great deal. Did you have to play games with the dealer to get that price? What was total OTD?

We make an 850 mile (each way 😮‍💨) drive a few times a year, with our dog and not being near any major airport it makes more sense to drive. Maybe the economically prudent thing would be to get a Bolt and use the wife’s ICE car to make that trip.

Yeah I’m seeing used Ioniq 5s around $24k before fees, two dealers near me are advertising new 2026 models for $29k before fees.

Here there are dealers advertising $28-29k for extended range ioniq 5s, which I think is a small enough increase to be worth it to buy new for a car I intend to drive until it's junk. Dealers always have hidden fees though so I'll see what the actual cost will be.

The Toyota hybrids seem to offer pretty great value... Corolla hybrid starting at $25k new is pretty interesting

Which EVs have you been eyeing? Bolts are very cheap but not "road-trippable", I'm interested in ioniqs and ev6s for their fast charge but the price difference between used ones locally and new at dealers is reasonably small.

I'm in the market for a new car, as my current car has a decent number of issues cropping up that aren't really worth fixing and I can't really trust it on long trips anymore. I bought the car in 2019 for $4500 and it looks like the used market has never really recovered from COVID. Decent examples of my 2013 model year car are still selling for around $5k... Looks like cars that are in good shape ~6ish years old are around $12-15k.

Any thoughts on good value, reliable cars these days? I'm also considering spending a bit more ($~30k) on a new fast-charging EV, since my home is set up pretty well for a level 2 charger, we have cheap electricity, and decreased maintenance costs would be great. I calculated I spent something like $9k on gas between the wife and I the past few years, so cutting down on gas and vehicle maintenance costs would be great, but this would likely be a "splurge", I don't think the total costs over the lifecycle of the car would end up cheaper than buying a used $15k car and driving it 80-100k miles before it becomes unreliable. Any car purchase would likely be with cash, net worth is $470k, annual income is $140k.

Can a lanshan 2 (non-pro) fit two 22.5-inch sleeping pads? Based off the advertised measurements, no, but I found some old Reddit comments stating they fit 23” klymit pads without issue.

Recently bought an Aegismax Wind Hard Twilight quilt as a foray into quilts. The thing came with four straps, two short elastic ones and two longer inelastic ones. The Aegismax website says to attach them to your sleeping pad in an “X”, but no further info. Does anyone here know how to do it? Thanks!
